From the UK forum:

Just had this email from Mazda UK…

"Thank you again for your patience while we have been waiting to be able to release your new Mazda MX-5. We have some good news and can confirm that we have been assured that the parts required for your MX-5 should arrive from Japan into our European Parts Warehouse in Belgium next week so your vehicle will soon be transported to your selling dealership for the rectification work to be completed.

We will ensure that as soon as those parts arrive in the UK, we will urgently despatch them to your dealership and the completion of the works prioritised.

We are communicating with our dealership network currently so they will be fully aware of the requirements.

We will pass any further information to you as soon as we have it, alternatively, you can reply to this email, contact us on 03457 484848 or speak to your local dealership who will be happy to assist.

Thank you once again for your patience. "

But you've not heard anything similar from Mazda Australia? That's disapointing.

Mazda Australia do not communicate with potential purchasers, they leave it to the dealers who in this instance profess to know nothing about the reason for the delays, in my case. I contacted Mazda Australia and was hung up on with my first call, I rang back and got a response of "technical Issue" was holding cars in port for an indefinite period. I was told to contact my dealer, which I did and was told it would be a hold up of 6 to 8 weeks.

That was 8 weeks ago. And have heard nothing, which does not surprise me as I went through my phone records the other day and discovered my dealer last instigated a call to me on the 12th January 25'. All other calls were by me to the dealer. So I do not expect a call anytime soon.

I find it hard to believe a company like Mazda can behave like they do in this instance and keep a good name within the industry.

Just by the way my car has been in port waiting on a fix for 68 days today and I ordered it 6th Jan 25'. More than 139 days ago!

My car arrived at the dealer Friday the 30th May. It will be undergoing a DSC module replacement and a software update this coming week and should be delivered to me later in the week. I tracked my car from Tottenham to Geelong on Friday and rang my salesman at 4pm to tell him the car had arrived at his dealership at 2.04pm, much to his surprise. He did not know it had been delivered!
I ordered it on the 6th January so it will be 5 months wait which I find unacceptable considering my car has been waiting in Melbourne since 20th March for the rectification work to be done. While waiting there has been zero communication from Mazda Australia and also none from my dealer, which is shabby to say the least.
Lets say, I am looking forward to next week so I can put this saga behind me.

Total customer fail all around in my opinion ... tbh if it was me I'd be insisting on a decent monitory compensation. This has all been disgusting. However, judging by the customer experience at my local Mazda dealership a couple of years ago when we were searching a new car for my wife...I have no intention of returning to them in the future.

I dunno what the fine print says in the contract, but......

I would have been looking for an exit.

Great news - thanks.

Your car was held in Melb, I'm assuming?

I would have exited a long time ago unless I was offered a substantial discount, etc.
It's only a 35 anniversary, BFD. Just a badge to try to sell more cars.

It's just not a badge, it has interior and exterior colours that you cannot get in any other current MX5, it also has some features the RS has that you cannot get in any other current MX5.
And sell them, they did.

Well, if it's what you really want to do, sure go for it. I would have lost interest and patience.

Are they offering any compensation for the delay?
Plus I am sure they will slowly offer all those 'unique' features in later model cars.

To cancel now or in the recent past would have been folly as by the time I ordered and waited for a new one, it would have me waiting longer.

I was stuck between a rock and a hard place.

So what do you expect me to do slowly wait for a new later model?
