NB AirBag module faulty - is it still available to buy?

Postby BISCUITS » Mon May 05, 2025 8:17 am

Hi all,
My mechanic suspects the Air Bag module is faulty in the NB.
Is it still available from Mazda to buy?
How much (if it is still available)?
What are the options to repair if it's not longer available? i.e. removing the bridging terminal out of the Air Bag Module Connector should turn the Air Bag light off, but I would like to fix it properly.
Thanks in advance..

Regards,
John.

Bags are available on the secondhand market and I reckon modules would be too (though all I have seen are the bags themselves), I wouldn't think twice about one of those. Have no idea if Mazda still stock them.

Thanks for your reply Greenmachine.
Yes, i was going to resort to 2nd hand as a backup plan.
Can you recommend any businesses who might have it 2nd hand?

MX5Mania would be my first port of call, local to you, dunno if Automotive Plus(?) are still in the game, maybe one of the locals will chime in.

Automotive Plus still appear to be in the game, however they also appear to have a broader remit, but definitely worth contacting as they're in your neck of the woods: https://www.automotiveplus.com.au/

If Automotive Plus can't give help or steer locally, then MX5 Mania definitely worth contacting.

Ref new part, Amayama might also be worth a look:

There's also another option for a new part if Mazda Aust don't have it, ie Partsouq :

I forgot about MX-5 Mania & MX-5 Plus (for the faulty Air Bag Module).
Thanks for the reminder and links..
