Says you, sitting at a computer or on a mobile phone, typing away.

That's not a car. I don't drive a phone.

They also generously offered a load car for the interim.

Cheers

Interesting to see that the mysterious "QC issue" is finally out in the open in Oz....hope it gets sorted quickly for you.

It's been identified as the DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) module that needs replacing plus a software update for same. I don't know just how long it is going to take, but I was told it may be a May/June delivery now.

Yep - and that is now the case for all MX5s landing in Oz...including cars built after Dec 24....

My dealer has also given me a loaner. Excellent service.

Latest I have heard is the DSC module/software update is a Furphy, that it is fact, a delay Mazda are putting on 35AE models so as to release them in a unified way world wide, a publicity stunt in other words. Other 2025 year MX5s have been delivered this year but no 35th AE models have. There is good evidence this is the case on Miata.net.

The hold applies to ALL MX5s from Dec 2024, not just 35th Anniv models....

From the big US Miata forum:

Mazda Confirms 2025 Miatas Stuck at US Ports Due to Parts Issue [Updated]
A problem with a vehicle control unit has held up Miata deliveries for weeks now, and buyers have been frustrated by a lack of information.

Mazda North America have also stated the problem will not be resolved until Summer (North America starts summer 20th June) which is outrageous considering it will be a wait of more than 5 months on top of production time which will take it out to about 7 months for some.
All MX5s are involved it is said.
They also said it was affecting "some" units but that "all" units would have to be assessed for the faulty control units (DSC?)

Mazda Australia and my local Mazda dealer have given me no explanation for the delay, Mazda Australia would only say it was a "technical issue" responsible for the delay, my local dealer is still now looking for words, and has come up with nothing.

....and yet there was a black one, Jan 25 built, sold from a Brissie dealer recently after being used as a demo...

:?:

There are quite a few good looking very low km/new 24 models for sale on the usual sites....maybe pick up one of those?

I hope Mazda compensate owners for the delays ... or is that just an insanely stupid thought?

They don't own them yet so they're not owners yet. Just get some free scheduled service.

Is this anything to do with the new autonomous braking laws for new cars? Whatever...there should certainly be some compensation offered considering the delays!

Agreed Kev, My car was ordered 6th Jan and after delays was supposed to be delivered 7th April. It's still not ready for delivery even though it's been in Melbourne since the 20th March.
Mazda North America is compensating buyers with everything from free services to $1500 rebates, $500 petrol vouchers, you name it. Not even a phone call this end. My dealer and Mazda Aust have been silent through out the whole sorry story.
As for the delay they are saying it's a DSC module fault now.

I'd ring the dealer and make noises about cancelling your order. See if he bites and makes you an offer of compensation. At the same time I'd ask for a big fat discount.

A quick search on Carsales shows 50 2024 model MX5s available across Oz, in most configurations...

The 2024 is the same as the 25....

I'm sure the dealers would be willing to deal on price....
