NC Front Lower Control Arms

Postby Zedric » Sun Dec 01, 2024 7:53 pm

Hi,
I'm a new member to the forum and have recently bought an MX5 NC.
I have been having trouble getting new front lower control arms and was wondering if RX8 units were compatible or not?
I read the Post in the technical guides topic about the RX8 front wheel hubs and did a bit of a search but couldn't find much else in the way of
parts that are the same for MX5 NC and RX8, so I thought I would ask.
Any help would be very appreciated.

Thanks,
Chris.

Welcome - short answer is don't know, but if you broaden your search by using Google, it seems to suggest aftermarket front lower control arms are, but of course that may not be the case for the OEM items. A post on the big forum (Miata.net) suggests checking orx626's garage thread, however it's 84 pages long, & as you found the forum search function was inconclusive (which it often is): viewtopic.php?f=57&t=30796

Ultimately, think it's a case of Google is your friend:

Welcome Chris!

I'd suggest you try a wrecker and get a LCA from a RX8, even if unusable as long as you can check the geometry and bushing dimensions, and the fitment of the lower ball joint it might get you an answer.

I suspect that if it is not on the big board (aka Miatanet) as compatible, it is not. There is a bit of action on Mt.net on tracking/turboing NCs, but I have not seen any mention of RX8 suspension compatibility there.

Where are you located (put it in your profile, it helps with these sort of enquiries)? If around Canberra, I'd suggest dropping around to Reliance, and chatting to Maddie - she knows more about RX8s than most, and may have some clue.

Good luck

Haven't posted here for a while.

Amayama is your friend for OEM parts in this case.
They list different part numbers for NC1, NC2 and iterations of RX-8 lower control arms.
In the expanded diagrams the whole front end suspension looks the same bar the sub frame. Maybe different bushes and ball joints on the arms??? Who knows.
