Hoping someone here can identify this terminal. I've been scouring the AMP website all week and can't identify the type. It's very similar to a Multilock 040 but it's slightly smaller and has 1 vertical slide/locator tab.
It's actually the clock spring terminal for the horn on an NB. Any suggestions?

Re: Terminal Identification
Any help would be great. It's 15.25mm long. The receiving end is 1.75mm wide, 2.25mm tall and 7mm long.
I'm currently page 13 of 22 pages with 25 female terminals a page on the Element14 website, but there's so many without images I may have already passed it...
I've also perused the AMP website, the Sumitomo website and next is Molex (as there were some that were very similar but not quite, but again, lots of parts without images and no filtering by size makes it like finding a needle in a haystack.
I put this up on the TurboMiata forum too with no response so far.
The other solution is to just source some cut off cables from wrecks, but I need 3x and I don't like my chances of finding 3 people wrecking NB MX-5s who are willing to cut the loom.

Re: Terminal Identification
- been REALLY busy with work at the moment, and painting the replacement rear passenger door of my SP23 - I now have "all the things" to do this AND know what to do and what NOT to do (especially NOT to be too aggressive with sanding back the acrylic clear coat AND use more than 3x layers when using a polisher otherwise the whole thing takes another week to do in winter - probably should buy some halogen lights that generate heat too to keep the temperature ~20-25*)
I just verified that you had indeed put it the correct MT "Connector Witchhunt Thread?" thread: https://www.miataturbo.net/electronics-122/connector-witch-hunt-70034/page8/?ispreloading=1 so kudos for that.
Send an e-mail with those pics to Ballenger, they're usually pretty helpful: https://www.bmotorsports.com/shop/product_info.php/products_id/4316 (see top of page for e-mail address)

Re: Terminal Identification
Thanks. I sent an enquiry to RS-Online but they replied saying they will need a manufacturer part number to see if they stock it…
Have sent an enquiry to Bellenger and am waiting a reply. Fingers crossed.

We've had a look but it doesn't seem we have a precise match for this one, sorry.

Re: Terminal Identification
Sounds like u can't buy the part separately.
I wonder if other Mazdas of the same vintage use it (may be easier to get used 323, etc clocksprings)?

Re: Terminal Identification
I’ll just start hitting up the usual MX5 wreckers and see if they’ll cut the wire/plug off the loom.
The plan is/was/still is to utilise the spare 3 wires that run through the clock spring so I can connect an Astina 323 cruise control module to the steering wheel.
The NB MX5 steering wheel has the mounting points, the clockspring has the extra wires and spare inputs on the plugs, I just need the terminals to crimp the controller cables from the cruise control module to the clockspring plug on the dash side of the clock spring.

Looks like a loom side ECU terminal, but note that you mention its close but not quite the same as some terminals you've come across.
NC1 apparently used loom side ECU terminals for clock spring connection - see last post: https://forum.miata.net/vb/showthread.php?t=638621
NA ECU terminal: https://kojaycat.co.uk/Mazda-MX5-MK1-To ... ector-Plug
NB ECU terminal: https://www.dsgarage.it/store/en/ecu-co ... -2000.html
NC terminals: most apparently are Sumitomo: https://forum.miata.net/vb/showthread.php?t=730881
For example: https://prd.sws.co.jp/components/en/det ... s=82400523

Re: Terminal Identification
Oh wow I feel slightly embarrassed but ultimately relieved.
So after scouring every parts website and unable to locate a part I revisited the factory ecu terminals I have. As 93Clubman said above, all my research showed other models used the same terminals as the ecu but these look different… well…
The clockspring connector terminal only has 1 vertical slide tab and the NB2 terminal has 2. The overall body is 2 or so longer so I dismissed it as incompatible.
After looking at the white connector last night under my magnifier it actually has 2 recesses for 2 slide tabs!!
So I crimped a wire to an NB terminal and it half went in but then felt tight, bulging the white plastic slightly so stopped. Looking under my magnifier and confirming with calipers the wire crimp is ever so slightly narrower on the original terminal compared to the ECU terminal crimp, so I stepped down a size on my crimper, just slightly narrower than what’s required for the ECU plugs and Lo and behold - it slid straight in and clicked into place!
The longer terminal doesn’t stick out the back of the plug at all and the receiver end is exactly the same size.
Had the right parts all along - TE Connectivity 316836-1
