Glad to hear you found the source. Random creaks, rattles and such outside of the cabin are so frustrating to narrow down.

Actually, when I went for a somewhat longer run later that morning, the noise came back louder than ever! Had another look at the drivers side front and found the slider pins were bound up, which caused one pad to rattle badly. Turns out that the lube I used, Never Seize, (Because it's good for very high temps), was a poor choice. I relubed with Lanonin ( which I had on hand) and everything now seems good. I wouldn't recommend the Lanonin however, a proper rubber grease I think would be best. Anyway, all seems good right now and I have learned more about disc brakes than I really ever wanted to know.

I went through many caliper greases over the years which all galled up solid or just disappeared. Penrite Copper Eze is what you want to use on slide pins. Still sliding a smooth as when they first went in even after several track days.

The information sheet for Penrite copper eze says not to use on brake systems!?

The best I've found for track days is Wurth brake paste. Good for 1100 deg c & doesn't solidify

Ahh yes I saw that too and questioned them at the time. It's poorly worded. They are meaning not for "internal" components of brake systems. i.e don't use it as lube on the piston during assembly or the threads of the bleed valves and brake line etc. Basically anything that will come in contact with brake fluid.
Penrite recommend Copper-Eze for slide pins:
https://penriteoil.com.au/faqs#/372/What-grease-do-I-use-for-the-brake-caliper-sliding-pins%3F

Would be nice if they updated their website to save confusion, as I originally saw that and discarded it as an option until David at MX5Mania says its what he uses so I questioned Penrite.

I'll check out the Wurth paste, they make good stuff.
