Travelling north ...
Geeze it's quiet in here, let's see if we can liven it up!
I'm going to be in Brissy (well just passing through) on Saturday 19th November. It would be great to have a coffee with some of you, I've sent PMs to some of the usual suspects, but hey unusual suspects also welcome hence this post!
I'll have wheels, sadly not from Mazda this time, so can be flexible as to location, also timing.
So, whatchathink?

Re: Travelling north ...
Brown?
Lots of lizards on the move around here, but the Joe Blakes have not (yet) put in an appearance.
Trying to cover off as many as I can with a group coffee, but I may have time later in the week on the way back.

Hmmm, spoke too soon. Nearly trod on a smallish black yesterday, it was only a matter of time. Long grass is a worry

Re: Travelling north ...
I'm looking at the options now. If you've got suggestions, throw them out - but we need to keep it on the M1 so GM doesn't have to detour far. So, Mt Ommeny would be too far off track, I think. Also, I want good coffee, not Cafe 63 mud water

That's right where I've always cooked the smoked-meat.
We might be able to do smoked snake this year too!

It's not about him, Cafe 63 is a big franchise, they're constrained by their suppliers and contracts. Plus they do roughly 100 items on their menu, they are value and efficiency focused. All of which makes it very difficult to make a good cup of coffee.
EDIT: On reflection, calling the potential coffee "mud" was a bit harsh, my apologies to John, I didn't mean to be that aggressive.

Re: Travelling north ...
Can I get an indication of who's interested in meeting up with GM as passes through our fair city? We're looking at Saturday, around 10am (flexible), close to the M1.
I know a great place just over the Gateway bridge near me, and I've found a few possibilities on the other side of the River if we need to accommodate any Southerners with time constraints. Open to suggestions, but let's try to lock something in

Re: Travelling north ...
Oh no Lachy, I have just posted a message to you, decided to look at 'new posts' and ... here I am.
I was going to give Lachy a chance to respond to my PM if he wanted to before posting here, but things have passed that point and I need to head this off at the pass!
Sadly, I am pulling the plug on coffee, reason being that the Falcon has decided to have an exhaust leak at the cat. I will be trying to get it fixed as quickly as possible, but it is easier to see a doctor here than to get into a workshop - at least the sort of workshop you want to patronise. Rather than say nothing and hope that I can get it fixed quickly, but then (and more likely) have to cancel at short notice, I want to minimise the stuffing people around (any more ) by cancelling now.
So that is it folks, I hope there will be other opportunities to catch up but this Saturday is not going to be one.
