The recent turbo and intake reworks done and fresh tune sorted. With the injectors maxed out we are keeping things sensible (kinda… sort of ) with the boost and power output. There definitely is more power to be had, but at this time I’ll be leaving things as is. There is a little more to go with an engine protection system to be sorted, as well a reworked clutch. Safe tune @ 410rwhp with the original 1.8 BP4W strong as ever.

Cheers mate. At the moment I’m running Yokohama advan ad08r 225/45 R16 on 16x8 rims, but I’m thinking that I may have to look at 15x9 rims.

Why?

You have reasonably sticky tyres already of a reasonably large (therefore relatively heavy to standard) size/width.

Anecdote: my cousin used to have an RX3 he like to drag but it had plenty of wheel spin off the line on its RX7 6" rims and Yokohama A008 tyres. He bought a pair of massively wide (11" IIRC) wheels/tyres for the rear that solved his wheel spin issue; the car started lifting the front end at take off! But it was no faster down the strip. All he had done was add massive flywheels to the back of the car which required so much more energy to get rotating that they were more difficult to spin off the line. The car really dug in as a result of the extra inertia in the wheels. That's not the best way to solve wheelspin. Stickier tyres is.

It would be nice if there were more options in 15” and 245+ with suitable sidewall profiles.

I have some 15x9 for mine but don’t have tyres on them yet.

I'd be running 255/40 x 17 AO50 at least with that much power. On mine I run 225/50 x 15 AO50 on the street as well as the track. I'm not interested in the ware. I don't drive it that much that it makes a difference. I think those tyres are the softest and gripiest you can get and made to withstand high power and torque.

BUT. I'd be looking at ways of making that 450+ over 9000 rpm instead of 7000 rpm. That sharp rise between 3000 and 4000 is a killer. Try to stretch the curve if you can. Talk to your tuner.

That would require WAY too many $$$ and be cheaper/achievable with a different engine.
