Re: Let's chat - tell us about your most recent drive
Crystal goes for an hour and a half drive every week and I love it.
We drive on twisty B roads with little traffic and she is both comfortable and quiet - and fast if I want her to be.
City traffic freaks me out due to the idiots with licenses, and I avoid city traffic as much as possible. If I have to drive in the city I take the Mazda 6.
Modern cars are faster and handle just as well but have no feel and finess - and no soul.
My favourite drive has a stretch of highway that I can't wait to get off due to all the dickheads in 4WDs, Twin-cab utes and SUVs and them 10 ks of lovely low-traffic B road on which I drive up and then back. I cross over the main road and have another 15 ks of twisty country road which can be enjoyed without exceeding the speed limit. There is even a fresh-food cart selling good cheap Paw Paw on an honour system.
I then drive the last 10 ks on the highway back into town. I wouldn't be driving anything else - I still enjoy my NB8B as much as I did when I bought it.

Re: Let's chat - tell us about your most recent drive
My last drive was at Morgan park, and had plenty of fun over three days.
I was supposed to be out there again a few weeks ago, but my tow car was put out of action in an accident.

Went down the coast yesterday. Called in to Normanville for a walk along the beach and, well, apparently it's the law ...

I drove to work this week! Registered the car for the first time since August on Monday and drove to the office. Oh what a novel experience.
And then there's a motorkhana on Sunday! How good is doing things!

I'm jealous. My car has been in the garage since the post that started this topic
Mind you, with the current cost of fuel that's maybe not so bad? With any luck the rain will let up here on Sunday and I'll get a blast.

Re: Let's chat - tell us about your most recent drive
just add E 85... its about $1.70 here compared to $2.20
mine is running on 2 cylinders . changed Crank position sensor.... ran like a dream but then reverted back to 3 cylinders. Had to abandon last weeks drive with the breakfast club.
Ive got this supposed super doper Cam Angle sensor....from Bellinger Motorsports , ist only lasted 2 years. and the pain is the postage cost. Im giving this one more shot. But Ive alos purchased a plug for a OEM Cam Angle sensor. so next time , going back to normal. and it takes ages for anything to arrive form the USA.
I thought I was being good converting to the more modern sensors when I converted to an NB motor. There is something to be said about the CAS on the NA's.

That sucks. Thankfully I've not had any issues with cam/crank sensors ... yet.
Also, I forgot, I have had a drive since the OP, when I met up with Stan! Still, I'd like to get a proper run in!

Re: Let's chat - tell us about your most recent drive
My SE spends a lot of its life in a shed at my nans place. I swap it around with my old ute depending on which I feel like taking for a drive (when I'm not in my work car). Its a bit of a hassle (I'm lazy) to swap so I haven't been driving it as much as I would like.
End of last year I entered it in the Whiteline Rallysprint in Sydney and it performed so well. I've had a few personal setbacks, but will be aiming to do more motorsport this year.
Ended a the year with a road trip which was nice. Also aiming to do more of them.
Since then a few of the young local lads have picked up nb's which has been great to see. They were a rarity in town, now there is 3 others in my local car friends group.

Re: Let's chat - tell us about your most recent drive
Beautiful day in Geelong yesterday so had a nice run down the GOR to Apollo Bay ,surprisingly little traffic, and still fun even at 80klph(ish) if you stay within the white lines.Home via Forrest. My (new to me)NC2 has headers and a Roadster Sport midpipe and a Town and Country twin muffler set up.It was good to get a few klms into it and it has mellowed nicely.
With Teins and electric adjustment ,played with a few damper settings, started at 16(soft) and ended up pretty happy at 12.The Recaro's are certainly comfortable , car is growing on me!! Nice to be back in an MX.
Peter.

Re: Let's chat - tell us about your most recent drive
Not an MX-5 but lately I've been doing more of the driving and that's meant driving my wife's old 1.3L Echo more often. I've always enjoyed driving this car, it's kind of similar to my NA 1.6 in enjoyment. Use the gears, keep it at revs, and it's a lot of fun. These actually handle better than most people probably give them credit for and through some twisty sections can surprise many drivers of "better" cars. I've discovered during one such spurt that our's needs some new dampers, so I might have some fun and upgrade the whole suspension ... because ........

Re: Let's chat - tell us about your most recent drive
Glad to hear of people getting out in their cars, or even their wife's runabout There's certainly something to be said for ripping around in a light weight, low power car Kev!
I took my MX-5 to work on Wednesday, just to knock the cobwebbs off, and remind myself how fun it is. I do need to sort out my boost though, need to add some more in. The weather is starting to cool, so it might soon be time to pull the laptop out and find a deserted stretch of road
This Sunday we have the All Japanese car meet in Banyo, and before that we always have an MX-5 gathering outside a Gent's Hairdresser. I don't much care for the actual show, but the pre-meet is always a highlight, and the barber shop is literally 400m from my door! Of course, once the car is out, you have to go for a bit of a proper drive

If we're talking hatchbacks, this was my most recent purchase: a Clio Sport 172 for my partner and I to run around in. It's pretty rough around the edges but shockingly fun to drive for how cheap it was. These are one of the best "cheap thrills" cars out there at the moment.

Re: Let's chat - tell us about your most recent drive
I finally managed to spend some time driving around the Victorian Alpine region, from Albury to Bairnsdale, via Tawonga Gap, Hotham Heights and Omeo. Fantastic roads that will definitely see me again in the future. Luckily, weather was good and traffic not too bad to enjoy the twisty roads.
