Mazda Spare parts prices!!

Postby pcmx5 » Tue Nov 30, 2021 1:21 pm

Got a few near new bits removed from my NC2 so thought I would check out their new price at Mazda ;Manifold and Cat $4302;Midpipe complete $2480.No wonder there is a great aftermarket range available for these things at a quarter of those prices .
What the hell must a gearbox or diff cost then?

But that price was 32 years ago. In 1989 I could buy a good used Brock Commodore for maybe $40K, nowadays...

there's also different type of people purchasing these cars....slightly more mature audience with NC perhaps. They don't need hard tops to be cool.

In 1989 the Mx5 was cool because it was the only convertible sports car around. We may have had others like the Suzuki Sierra.... but it wasn't a sports car. The mx5 was also a hair dressers car in thos days. Now NA's are cool because they handle well, They've become a cult car.

But I recall in around 2000 wanting to replace my Momo steering wheel. Mazda wanted $1000 for one    . they were going to write it off & sell it to me for $900. Ducking clowns.... would have been their drinking money for he next few Friday nights. I figured If they were going to write it off.... I would have taken it for $500 at the time. But ended up getting the original from Just Mx5's for $250. they had bought the last 10 off the Momo rep.

Yeah, Mazda dealer quoted me $1800 a decade ago for the fuel pump-fuel gauge sensor assembly which mounts just inside the top of the fuel tank.

The prices reflect that Mazda don't want to stock those items due to little demand and high cost just to keep one item on the shelf indefinitely.

As a ND Ltd. Ed. owner, yeah, I know.... :?

If one of my wheels ever gets 'hurt' I'll be going for an entirely new set of rims!
