Even at low boost on a stock BP05, it will be a drastically different driving experience! Really enjoying following your build, quality parts and attention to detail at every step.

I would have been VERY anxious when 3/4 of the package was unaccounted for... :shock:

The Kraken kit is good stuff for sure, and your kit looks good. I did notice the the twin tip muffler too

Do you know what wastegate pressure is on that turbo? I think you've got a good handle on what's needed to be done to install and run it all, and I'm looking forward to seeing your progress. Boost is coming!

Also, I love that photo of your doggo, he looks like he's having a good time!

Yes, I would have been very worried to only have some of the shipment arrive, very glad to see it all turned up safe and sound. You have done better than me, Toll can't even locate my heater core, let alone tell me when I might get it. But it has only been three weeks. Interestingly, their website talks of delays, and says shipping may take an extra day (yes, one day!) due to high levels of demand. And I gather the drivers are going on strike today, or is that a different transport company, either way it is not a good time to be locked down with shipments in transit.

There were some comments about NOT painting the intercooler black. Looks good initially but over time it gets chipped and looks bad. Thermal efficiency of a black cooler seem questionable.

Basic high school physics (as I remember it) - black is the best colour for heat absorbing and radiation. However a bit of rattlecan flat black on the front of the core is going to have stuff all effect. Its primary benefit is a big reduction in the hugely important 'fuzz bait coefficient', this is a big plus for household budgets. A secondary benefit is the reduction in general attention, especially amongst the yahoo crowd.

Yes, it does deteriorate over time, but that first coat left plenty in the can, and it is still on the garage shelf

I thought you may of noticed that.
Gate pressure on that charger is 15psi so enough to send a rod, I’m going to put a turbosmart adjustable on with 7psi spring, I considered an eBay one but I figure that it could result in chasing my tail and buying a better quality one in the end.

I’m feeling the same about the provided BOV but I’ll try it and if it doesn’t leak I’ll run it till it does then go a GFB.

The manifold, cast dump adapter and dump pipe are booked for ceramic coating next Wednesday, so progressing a little

I was expecting a claim and a re order to happen so I feel your pain mate.

It’s crazy world wide, at work I see containers go from 3 weeks out to 3 months overnight.

Hi Bruce, thanks for the heads up.
Yer I believe that you are correct with the efficiency but as green machine said it is very minor and because I’m not squeezing everything I can out I should be fine, I have had black and polished before and prefer the black especially on this car with it’s more vintage feel.

I found stone chips were fine if you stayed back from other cars and used quality paint.

All these things, i especially hated the “let’s race because you have a big front mount” attitude of some other “yahoo” motorists.

Didn’t MCM do a test and show that black didn’t perform worse and in fact was actually better at heat shedding?

The fact it isn’t worse was enough for me, and mine is getting the black treatment.
Much better than the look at me bling sticking out at you from the bumper mouth

Of course - if the internet says it, it takes precedence over the science. What do the scientist know anyway? :roll:

As previously posted, black IS the best colour to radiate heat. That doesn't mean a lot, unless all the surfaces are black, which spraying the front obviously doesn't do. So spray for stealth, not for IC efficiency.

To each their own of course, but if there's any difference in temps for a black inter-cooler it would be negligible.

I went with a cheap black eBay IC when I replaced the postagestamp Mazda installed as an OEM IC, going for that stealthy look, but by the end it looked horrible and ratty. Sure I could have pulled it out sanded it back and repainted, but that's a lot work.

And personally I love the look of my new shiny silver IC sitting in my grill!
