WTB NA6 7 spoke alloy rims(2)

I managed to damage two of my rims today on a ‘hidden’ edge drop-off. The tyre place I was taken to, by RACQ, suggested that they had had quite a bit of success having alloy rims rolled to remove/straighten the damage. If the damage is too severe for this, I will need to find two wheels to replace the damaged ones. I would really prefer to keep the car stock, by replacing the damaged rims with the OE hollow spoke alloy rims. Picture attached.

The rim pictured is a polished JDM NA8 hollow spoke rim (not an NA6 rim). The ADM NA8 didn't come here with these, but some made it here on later imported JDM NA8 & as later imported parts. The hollow spoke are a scarce NA8 rim & the polished hollow spoke NA8 rim even scarcer:

Unless of course your rims have been polished or chromed post factory, but given the Eunos Roadster wheel centre suspect it's polished from the factory.

Hi Clubman,
Your comments jibe with what I have found since starting a search for replacements, however, the car was brought back from Japan by a female school teacher and 'Gold' plated (approved imported vehicle) in Queensland in December 1992. It is a 1.6ltr Eunos roadster V Special (tan interior, Nardi steering wheel). Can only assume that one of the two previous owners ‘upgraded’ them a number of years after returning to Australia. I don’t know the original owner who brought it back from Japan, but what I know of the second owner (15-16 years of working on site, in the same business), it is highly unlikely that he made any mods to the car. He is not that way inclined. Below is the result from the QLD rego search app for my car.

Hi Sparra, your vehicle's wheel style, but not in polished form, first appeared in Sep 1993 on the NA8 in Japan & Australia. That wheel style in polished form first appeared in Japan on the NA8 V Special Type II in late 1993. Checked brochure pics of the Eunos Roadster NA6 Neo Green V Special & can confirmed they were sold with NA6 style wheels. Sounds like the first owner that brought it from Japan replaced the NA6 wheels. The rims were rolled back to straight. Little evidence of the damage is visible, unless you look at the inside, and know that there had been problem. I guess long term I will need to keep an eye on them to ensure they don’t develop fractures from the stress of being bent, and then rolled back into shape.

At $278 ea this was not a cheap option when compared to the price of 2 new rims, but I would have felt compelled to replace all 4. Also, I don’t know how many rims available (I can afford) that only weigh 4.2kg.

That's a good result.

I have just had a rim straightened, I was told that if it cracked in the process they would not proceed, it would be junk as far as they were concerned. They wouldn't weld it, as they considered such welds failure-prone. But mine came back into shape without drama, and they said that the chance of any later cracking was essentially zero.

On that basis you can proceed with confidence.
