Re: 20th birthday AusCartalk
Great to see that some of the earliest 'join dates' are still around. Provides a depth of personality to the Forum.
Forums DO seem to have a 'life-cycle' that starts with everything still to be discussed and progresses to a point where almost everything has been said and is in the archive - if only you can find it. Forums can still continue past this point if there are enough people that enjoy each others on-line company and are willing to share some trivia about themselves and their life. I always say there are no stupid questions - only stupid answers.
I raise a glass to all those who have made and continue to make a contribution to a great Forum that has been a real joy to me over my 16 years with it. Particular thanks to Okibi. I hope we will all be here for many years to come.
Long live the MX5!

OMG you guys are still here! It's been a long time since I asked Bob to add an MX-5 channel to aus-cartalk. And not long after that til we displaced all teh MX-6 and Probe owners, I wonder where they went

Re: 20th birthday AusCartalk
Forum survival is an interesting topic in itself.
I am on some others that are booming.
And I have been part of many that have gone away.
The most disappointing for me recently was the official PlayStation forum. Had not used it for a while but I needed to search something from the past.
Apparently Sony shut them all down last year world wide. And all their other Sony forums, and took all access away from the 20 years of data!!!
The reason why, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
LOL, I don't agree.
Every now and then I look at my Dad's facebook account and man are there some stupid questions on the MX-5 pages.
Especially in for sale ads.
I don't think the people asking such questions on Facebook would even know what a forum is so I think we are safe from that.

BTDT, feel for you in every way.
When my No2 fell off the child support list, all of a sudden possibilities opened up. The GM was one of those, and I grabbed it with both hands. Hang onto the dreams, they can become a reality.
I never met a horsepower I didn't like (thanks bwob)

How can STM possibly start a thread, I had heard it on good authority that he was blown up all good and proper... Unless the perpetrators used them pesky SP bolts to hold the IED together......
