Cracking NC1 Steering Wheel

Postby Penguin » Tue Feb 16, 2021 1:16 pm

Sadly my 06 NC1 is developing spits in the leather on the steering wheel.

I am sure I am not the only one. What have others done?

Recovered the wheel, if so with what material and by whom?
    Replaced with Auto Exec wheel
    Replaced with Cipher wheel
    Something else?

Interested in learning form others experiences. Keen to keep the airbag.

Is it beyond saving with some conditioner and leather treatments?

I went with Guardian Designs in my NB, they make wheels for all MX-5s, and other manufacturers now as well, all keep the OEM airbag. They have so many options to personalise your wheel, including going to a smaller diameter than stock, and the quality is very good. The only downside is cost, but IMO it's worth it for the product you get, better than other replacement options.

The Guardian Designs certainly look like a very impressive product. I am now seriously considering raiding the piggybank!
