I would never drive my MX5 for "longer trips" - no room for luggage or a full-size spare. That's what the 'Family car' is for.
Mine is purely a toy for short spirited drives once or twice a week, and for that, the NB has everything I want.
The FIAT likewise, except it had one thing I didn't want - rust. But it did have the best gearbox in the business.
Makes the MX5 gearbox look like a Hilux.
