Hey guys,
I'm in need of some help with drilling my sump.
I've got a vvt and the aircon is staying. Where is the safest place to drill and tap a hole on the sump.
For those that don't know the aircon covers the front of the sump. And the engine mount is damn close to the other position.
Attached is all I've got to work with.
Cheers

When you drill it, where will the drill swarf go? I know most of it will be external, but some may get into the sump. Not so sure I'd be comfortable with that.

Not too concerned, got a hose attached to vac.
I can't be bothered pulling the sump.
Maybe I should just buy this.

This thread has some good photos

You want to be able to access your sump bolts as well.

That is for the bottom of the turbo. What you need is a drill and thread tap for a threaded fitting.

Re: VVT OIL DRAIN HOLE
Yeah, could use in both cases but found out this part of sump isn't flat.
Anyway, I drilled and tapped thjs part of the pan. No problem. Don't like the lack of strength in the tap due to the thin sump so will also order a extension to make sure it's not ripped out.
Will post photos for anyone else shortly.

Just want to make mention here. Make sure you're tap is really shallow and not tapered type. Not much space pan on.
