Original SE floor mats?
Hi all,
Can any SE owners still with their original floor mats let me know what they actually look like?
I think mine are original, they have "SE" surrounded by laurel wreaths stitched into the middle (see below), but sadly not much info around about such an important subject
And would anyone know my chances of getting a replacement set? Or would have to repair?
Thanks!
David

Mine look like that, and are pretty worn on the driver side. I don't like your chances of replacing them with OEM though.

Thanks @ManiacLachy.
Yeah getting OEM is a long shot.
May have to try and repair, which should be interesting! Not sure how big the car mat restoration market is.

Re: Original SE floor mats?
I wonder if you could get a sewing shop to reproduce the logo on new non-oem blank mats?
In time I was thinking of getting Coco mats or similar, but they are full aftermarket and other than the fitment shape are not designed to emulate OEM mats.

My SE had "Titanium" mats in it when I bought it. I assumed they were orginal and didn't know there were "SE" mats.
The Titanium mats were getting a litle ratty so I just replaced them with standard ones from Mania.
It might be time to learn how to embroider.

I've seen a pic of the "SE" mats in one other car too, so I reckon they are legit OEM.

Re: Original SE floor mats?
Good luck getting those as a replacement. They are the SE mats I have seen in other SE's.
My previous SE did not have the "SE" mats. And it likely won't be the only SE to not have had them.
My SE did have genuine Mazda mats that were fitted from day 1 at the dealership.
They were the black mats with a red MX-5 embroidered logo on them.
Actually suited the car much more, with the red stitching in the leather, not to mention all the other red bits SE's had.
Mine were still like new when I sold the car last year. The trick was I had mats on my mats as per the 1st owner.

Re: Original SE floor mats?
I have them in my car and it's not even an SE. They were in it when I bought it an I've wondered whether they were at all special.
I've been thinking about taking them out to preserve them. Might store them in the shed and put some generic ones in for now.

Was it an 05? Maybe it was the 04s that had the SE mats. Just a guess.
I wish I was the original owner of mine instead of the second! (Even if it only had 20K when I got it) One day I will upgrade my buying status

Re: Original SE floor mats?
New old stock replacements are no longer available....... A forum member here had a set new in the bag a few years ago that I tried to buy but after some initial discussion he went quiet and stopped responding.
Ironically my SE has SP floormats! Go figure....
There are replica replacement 'blank' mats out there but I've seen variable reports on the quality.
If you can supply a sample replica embroidery should be possible, it's just a question of the cost.

Nope early 04.
Actually on that there is no such thing as a "05" considering the factory burnt down in 2004.
Just a spec update.
Don't get me started on Model Year (MY) BS. Apparently you can buy a MY21 car today! What a load of marketing crap.
If it was built in 2004 it is a 2004!!!

I think that makes two of, and only two of, us. I was on a US based Toyota forum about 20 years ago and got into an argument, where I said what you said. But everyone thought I was an idiot that just didn't get it. I thought the same of them! Now Australians are drinking the Kool Aid too. What is the world coming to?
Apologies for thread heist.
