give it a fly then- see what it cost for jigs / fixture time etc for how many was that? One of the reasons for using polycarbonate was weight, shape and impact strength. As a matter perhaps of interest -once we used to have glass lenses in headlamps now long gone except for some of the smaller fog lamps. When the glass lenses were the choice, before polycarbonate became viable ,you bought the lenses with MOQs- nothing much under 1000 pairs because of the set up time and costs relating to running a factory.

The main issue is that nothing besides OEM has ever come close to being satisfactorily wind and water tight.

All the aftermarket ones are for racers (maybe some of the jap ones are alright, but long out of production and were very very expensive back in the day).

I remain unconvinced that any small scale producer could make a half decent one.
