Hey all you good looking MX5 people,
So I was meant to have surgery yesterday got canceled so did some one arm MX work.
Was a little like playing operation, speaking of I’m in to get sliced Friday..... or Saturday...... or Sunday..... it’s getting a little frustrating waiting so I have gone back to work, I can’t make it any worse.

Anyway fitted the NB8B crossover pipe with a 19mm barb threaded into the crossover and sealed with silicone just to be sure. I made it a very tight fit and cut the barn down so it protrudes about 3mm into the intake pipe.
I then used the factory idle valve hose un-modified.
Can idles fine and revs up fine but obviously I can’t drive it at the minute.
I also did some work on the fitment of the zoom radio surround, basically lots of lite sanding, check, lite sanding, check but I’m 90% happy with it now but will keep at it a little longer.
Here is a couple pics, the car is dirty at the minute (and has some fibreglass dust inside) but it gives you all an idea. I actually spent another 3 hours on the radio surround since that photo now I look at it.

So operation all done today and it all went well for the most part.
I have lost some feeling on the inside of my forearm from the op but it may return in time.

I have full feeling and function in my hand which I’m stoked about and may even get to go home tomorrow.

Very determined to recover as quickly and completely as possible...... got an NA that’s calling me for a drive

Currently sitting up in hospital watching Flyin’ Miata videos lol

We have parts!!!
So small update items have arrived today.
Firstly my quilted leather trans tunnel covers.
No idea on fitment yet just roughly held them up but the wear protector is for accelerator pedal foot on LHD cars, in mine it will protect from passengers marking it and in honesty not concerned.

Also today I received from CarbonMiata.

GV rear light panel.
Vented headlight cover.
KG works spoiler.

The quality to be honest is better than what I was expecting having had glass pieces from China before the gelcoat is far less wavy than what I was expecting, it’s actually quite good and I did work in a business that produced glass products at one point.
There is a few mould release marks and some trim lines need a little smoothing out but nothing too bad at first glance, once I get the GV panel in place will be the test. I feel a coat of high build primer and a finishing sand will fix up 95% of issues.
In the end you get what you pay for but even JDM glass parts require massaging........like my Zoom radio surround.

So below is what I have waiting to get painted and fitted, not shown is the TSI’s currently fitted to the car that I really don’t like not colour coded on my white car and a very nice Blue boot lid (makes me want a blue NA, it’s a pretty nice colour).

I will finally be able to fit my nose badge that’s been waiting for a couple years or more to be fitted, I think it will tie in ok

Keeping with the retro theme I got a new badge for the GV panel when it goes on.

It’s metal and seems like fairly nice quality.
It’s the boot badge off an RX-3, my dream car.
I was actually at a gents house a few weeks ago which has a lovely collection of cars and there was an RX-3 coupe there in primer, was like spotting a unicorn, sigh I Should never of sold my RX-4 (or my RX-7s).

While on the subject if you are a Mazda fan, hell a car enthusiast at all that hasn’t experienced a wankel rotary put it on your bucket list, even if you don’t like them they offer a feeling like no piston motor that should be experienced.

Perhaps it’s because of my rotaries that I have never been overly happy with how my BP motor revs out, it’s just..... not as smooth and sweet as I would like.
Manga_blue has a very sweet BP in his NA with a lightened mazda flywheel and black_penguin has a light aftermarket one in his NB.
Both these cars feel much nicer through the rev range than mine does, mine feels a little more shopping trolley than sports car if that makes sense, still good but not great.
So as some of you know I purchased this.

It’s a Ogura racing clutch and super light flywheel.

It’s the dampened single metal disc type, the little springs above make it the “silent” version. Basically reduces rattle that comes with these style clutches.

I have had very little experience with these except a friends civic that had this setup and it was ok for drivability and noise but excellent for response.

I had an OS Giken twin plate in my FC RX7 and I would never do it again on a road car.

This clutch is rated for 300HP and torque around 340Nm/250 foot pound so it will be interesting how it handles turbo torque.

I’m really really excited to see this wake up my BP at the expense of some manners.

My stock BP05 feels very lazy compared to my old modified B6 with the same flywheel. Cams and headwork are what really wake it up in my experience.

Thanks for your feedback Paul, I think this clutch with the Stewart BP4W and TODA cams should make a really sweet little package, you have me even more excited to get that head on.

Headwork, exhaust system, inlet manifold and fuel/spark mapping are what make my car go. The flywheel is a minor benefit in comparison. Light flywheels are only noticeable when engine speed changes rapidly, basically WOT in 1st and 2nd.
