Haha no, the drift kids had been and wrecked a few hundred tyres which were shredded all over the road. People were stopping to take pics.

Stole the car of Mrs Tart and went through the cross city tunnel. Would've been rude not to open up the taps. From 5k the engine really wakes up and zings.

My comment was more a play on the fact that the MX5 Club QLD has 'Stopped' motorsporting...

With less than a month til the first race at Lakeside I’m in full on prep mode.
Although technically the car doesn’t fall into a championship category the car and I need be safe and comply with some standards.
I’ll post pics but in short I’m fitting a bucket seat, 5 point harness, bonnet pins, new discs, pads and brake fluid plus a new helmet and hans device. I’ve also got some ducting to fab up some extra brake cooling as the races are 15 laps and my car probably weighs a fair bit more than a stripped out racer.

Your car does fit the 2b championship. Get some Aero ideas from the tim's and some slicks, should be in the 58s :D


Also, being 2b, you don't need a passengers seat, so remember to remove that,

Thanks for that. I thought because the engine isn’t from an MX5 it’s neither F or B?
I don’t want to go that quick without a full cage so I’ll use my Nitto NT01’s and give the aero a miss. Slicks also means big camber changes and my wife will still drive it to the train station on Monday :lol:

If the block is manufactured by Mazda, & you are still running an MX5 head (that fits on the Mazda block without changing bolt positions), then you are good to go in Cams 2B.

Yeah I'm not, I'm running a 2.5 head from a mazda 6. If I had put the 2.0 back on(as I was planning on doing) I would but that's a long story! Ironically, I'd be making more power with the 2.0 head! (compression)

FItted the lowered, stiffer engine mounts today. Took a couple of hours mainly because the tall 2.5 fouls on the bulkhead bracing.
The new mounts appear to have improved the baulking shift but I won’t really be able to tell until I get on track. One thing’s for sure, there is very noticeable NVH at idle.

Yes, NVH increased drastically when I did mine, now I don't notice it. Time cures everything.

I have the Nitrodann mount in. NVH wasn’t too big an issue, but admittedly it is noticeable as Red_Bullet says....... then again, all things NVH are irrelevant after the driveline reworking that I done on mine :roll: ( until the ACT clutch goes in :DIY: .)
