My NB8A had SE fabric seats with a foamectomy and that was quite hard enough for me to get in and out! Once seated in the car it was great, but when I then got my SE with stock leather seats the comparison was remarkable how much easier it is getting in and out. These days I don't drive in any way that I need that extra support so I'm much happier with the stock leather seats.

Thanks Taminga16.

I had never seen one of these before. I’ve copied the link for future reference.

The low seat height was one of my concerns too, these knees are not getting any younger. :? Interestingly I’ve found that because the MX-5 has longer doors I can swivel right round to get both feet on the ground. This was on the ND I test drove anyway. It is easier to get out of the MX-5 than the 2000 model Corolla I was running around in, the seat in it was also super low but because of the short door you had to twist out on one leg. It was very hard on the right knee.

From all the replies it seems that really I’m not going to know if the seats suit me till I’ve got some hours in the car. Which won’t happen till I actually own it. What is good is that no one is saying the Recaro’s are so good that I should chase a model that has them.
Cheers

I’ve got the full NC3 limited interior in my NC1, love the Recaro seats, someone with a wide arse might struggle, they are not a race seat... really comfortable.

They do look pretty nice. Did you buy a complete interior from a wreck?

I went to an MX-5 meetup today and sat in a a couple of NC’s with both factory Recaro’s and normal seats. While I didn’t drive either car I found both to be quite snug and comfortable. I guess I’ll stick with plan “A” and buy the best car I can afford and worry about the seats after I have some hours in the car.
Cheers

Thanks for the input guys.

I bought a 2011 NC this afternoon. It has the standard seats, I guess I’ll know how they are after a few hours in them. They are a nice “limited edition” light grey. Lets see how I go keeping them clean :D
Cheers
