Updated ND on mazda website - Including 12% price rise!
Haven't seen anyone else post this up, but the Mazda website is updated with the slightly changed ND
https://www.mazda.com.au/cars/mx-5/
Doesn't look like massive changes, except for the price. RF GT is now over $53k, over $5,800 increase.
It's about a 12% rise across the range, not sure if that's a normal size increase for a mid life refresh, seems a bit steep to me.

So what is the RRP without the BS delivery charges and taxes?
The website does not tell you. Governments fault, as they mandated the full drive away price be shown.
I can't compare apples with apples until I see the RRP.
So whats new exactly?
Looks the same.

Ah . Here may be a light bulb moment, I was not aware that delivered price is now mandated. Is this a recent thing?
I know something similar happened with airfares, so I'm not overly surprised, I guess it all comes under the 'component pricing' rules.
Doing the 'build your car' thig on the Mazda website does show the price as "Recommended delivered price", prices I saw for the 2019 models were probably RRP (car only) and missing the extra $ gouge.
In this case, the price increases probably isn't as bad as I thought, but I agree, it would be nice to know the RRP so I can actually compare.
Looks pretty much the same to me too, I think some of the safety stuff is now standard on more models. Black roof RF GT gets different coloured leather to previous version.
Hmm, I was going to edit my original post, but the edit button doesn't seem to be available (or any of my other few posts either)

The price on the 2019 calculator was also a drive away price, so the price hike is real. It's been reported on quite a bit in the states and I assume we're the same.

I would have thought nearly all dealers are offering keen/ do a deal prices- RRP never meant much in the past. The price is crazy in my opinion - I wonder how sales are going for the MX5?

Latest sales figures I've seen for 2019 are Sep: 35, Oct: 17, Nov: 20. Total for 2019 was 442 (down from 835).
Sales are falling off sharply, as is normal for each MX-5 generation after more than four years of sales.
Incidentally there were more Porsche 911s sold in 2019 (504) than three were MX-5s!

Not sure if the latest Wheels magazine has the most current RRP (not on road) but according to this month’s magazine a ST GT it is about $1400 more than it was in 03/19. If that price is correct the increase isn’t too high (and noting that Apple CP and Android Auto is now standard).

I'm sure there's some wiggle room for negotiation, like MrM says, they're not exactly flying out the door anymore despite the newer face-lifts being the better car all around.
However, the other week I was walking the forecourts with my brother who was hunting a new sedan, and there were no MX-5s to be found. Hard to sell something you don't have available.

2017 95jpy to 1aud
2019 75jpy to 1aud
Only a 12% rise is good in the scheme of things

Yup, read the same on a motoring news website;
The car industry is forecasting another tough year and currency pressures are likely to prompt prices rises mid-way through 2020.

Re: Updated ND on mazda website - Including 12% price rise!
I went and test drove an RF GT (black roof) the other day, was very nice. I liked the leather colour, but not a fan of the roof panel being black, and woudn't say it was worth the premium over the normal RF GT.
They were pretty keen to sell something to me, had a bout 3 different people talking, but I like to go away and think about stuff and examine options.
It came down to $48,930, finance between 4% and 5% if I took their finance, for an RF GT (including more expensive paint colour), just in case anyone is wondering what sort of prices are out there. That price was given without too much haggling.

That is typical, 3 salesman each play-acting their parts (1 gives the price, 1 goes and asks for a better price, and 1 who is the boss). No wonder they have such a poor reputation.

Yeah, it was like there's a script they were reading from - "I'll make a call, fleet pricing, no margin, but we'll help you out" etc., "I'll get the boss and see what we can do". I felt like I needed a shower after I got out, just kept repeating I'll go away and think about options.
