Re: Forum Vs Social Media
To think, all those people face down in their phones walking blindly along the pavement are all using some form of social media. It has become so widespread and a part of normal society.

Re: Forum Vs Social Media
All my non car mates can see what I post in the FB car group, even private ones.
They subtly take the piss out of me my liking my comments.

Lady GaGa said that? I'm liking that girl more and more - and she can sing too.

I tried MX5 specific FB sites and within about two posts I’d managed to upset just about everyone. Man there’s some snowflakes on social media.

It is the Internet after all. I upset a few people when they ask suspension questions.

I swear you're just trolling them! Usually the answer they want is the cheapest Chinese junk they can get their hands on. They only want looks, regardless of what they say about performance. I ignore those posts, but always chuckle when I see your follow up questions.
The thing that gets me about some of the social media groups is that they complain about a lack of community, no meets etc, but then they sh1t post and make fun of each other. That's not how you build a community!

Re: Forum Vs Social Media
There are some younger members of a particular FB Mx-5 group who is quite talented driver, does all his own work on the car. It's not a good idea to generalise. He has got 4th outright at SSCMSC DTC events in an aspirated MX-5 against some pretty serious competition. There is always a mix of people in any group.

Re: Forum Vs Social Media
The main problem for me with Facebook is the lack of history and if it is there, the inability to search for it. I’m on a couple of 4wd truck groups on FB and like others have said here, the same questions come up over and over again but you have no way of finding the old answers.
The same questions are the same as the questions I had and when I can I have answers them but unless it was recent my responses are gone. I feel I should share the knowledge I have gained but once you have answered the same questions a number of times you really don’t want to keep doing it.
There are also more wrong answers on FB too but maybe thats just because there are more contributors.........

Re: Forum Vs Social Media
If social media is so bad why do people keep using it? It must be some psychological need/reward/satisfaction thing.

Re: Forum Vs Social Media
This forum also experienced the same old questions as well and you could put that down to a degree of laziness from the person not doing any pe checks and also because the search feature was not particularly effective. We have been greatly helped by 93clubman who is a 4 star general when it comes to digging out info. Now its just slowing down with punters going elsewhere.
I am might add that in the old days people read books and magazines and asked their mates for assistance but now we have a keyboard which can save a lot of time and open up so much.
