LS OHV may be old tech but they are compact and relatively light and produce a lot of grunt for their packaging requirements.

Re: Any legally registered MX5 LS V8s in Australia?
I was just up in the gold coast so I stopped by to look at an NC mx5 that had an LS1 and it was beautifully done, mostly V8 roadsters parts, willwood brakes and what looked to be xida coilovers, It was mod plated also. I wont mention the cost to build but not cheap as he had it outsourced, if i was to do one I would look to do a lot of the work myself.
70 240z done!! Well almost.

One day it will be up for sale and I shall purchase it.
Just picked up an old Motor magazine from the library for a mere 20 cents - it has the full review of the Flyin Miata ND with the 6.2 LS3 conversion.

Yes, it is very expensive and much more work than you think. If you did it all yourself in your spare time it will take a long time. You basically modify and re engineer the whole car front to back.
Almost everything needs to be re done. It is not for the faint hearted.

Can someone put a 5.7 LS and spend the big bucks making one and getting it engineered in Vic. Then a few years later sell it to me for half what was spent.
What about a V8 clubbie currently at $21.5k: https://www.lloydsonline.com.au/LotDeta ... =3&pgs=100

Looks very neat all around. Can't see any compliance, mod or engineering plates under the hood - probably not meant for the road.

Has VIN, was built in Vic, & is registered in Vic. Would revise front top wishbone upright mount though.

Re: Any legally registered MX5 LS V8s in Australia?
The ad says it is registered, but being sold unregistered.
One interpretation of that is that the car was registered with another engine, or perhaps it was registered under 'rally registration' regs which might permit something that ordinary day-to-day rego doesn't. car has 21k kms, so not a new build - actually says built (registered?) in 2003.
I also note that it is a 'compressor' engine if that means what I think it means!

I never met a horsepower I didn't like (thanks bwob)
