I still haven't learnt from anyone else in aus that they have busted a rear hub.
Also, I emailed sadfab, and lead time was a month or 2.
I have some MR2 hubs coming from rock auto and will machine them locally. They're pretty cheap. Genuine unit was about 200 each from amaymayamaya

Long shot...Anyone here got a set that they are prepared to part with?

I have mine apart for replacement axle and would like to fit updated hubs while I’m at it.

Suggest you look at getting a set machined locally. It looked pretty straightforward to me, all the dimensions have been provided. See the threads linked above.

Get in contact with Shane P he just some made locally. I’m about to fit mine, have the bearings and seals now.

It is looking like SadFab is AWOL. No updates on Website, Miataturb.net and Facebook for a while now. No email responses either.
First event will be on 1st of March 2020. I don't see the Sadfab option coming in on time if there is no response by the end of this month. I gather the backlog will be huge.

So will likely just go with Whiteline diff mounts. Quick and easy to get, supports Australia and probably better off having softer Poly then rock hard Delrin anyway.



Amayayma has 2 options for MR2 hubs.
42301-17050 (older part number) $200
or
42301-17040 (newer part number) $215

IS there a difference that can affect install???

For reference Mazda B01A33060A is $160

But that leaves me with the Dilemma of buying OEM hubs or going down the path of getting MR2 Hubs machined locally.
Can someone give me an idea on what I should roughly pay for machining the MR2 hubs locally. Plus making the spacer washers to suit.

I have a 8 pairs of MR2 hubs getting machined locally. A few are spoken for. Was going to post a thread up once they're done and QA'd. Hopefully they're done by the end of the month.

MR2 hubs will not work without machining.

If you're want a pair, shoot me a PM.

Also, not sure if you're aware but V8Roadsters now offer NA/NB billet rear hubs.

Sean/SADFab, just got back to me today out of the blue.
He also has come alive on the miataturbo.net forum.
His latest post was a little bit of a concern to me after someone had a stud pressing in mishap.

"Yea the oem toyota hub is 0.559". The china hubs I use, use their own stud size of 0.500". There are only 2 hub choices for mr2s; OEM at about $340 a pair, my cost, and (what appears to be from product listing pics) one chinese manufacturer under a few brands for about 1/10 of that."


I did not realise until now that this setup is using Chinese aftermarket hubs!
It is not really obvious on the Miataturbo.net sale topic. The only clue is a fair way down where he says he sources the hubs from Amazon and Rock Auto.
This concerns me a little as who really knows how good the steel is in a Chinese aftermarket product. Just because it is thicker than the OEM Mazda hub, does not guarantee it is stronger as the metallurgy maybe crap.
Probably not a problem, but it's not like these things have been out there for that long to prove them over time.

Look great. Bit pricey, but they definitely sound like the strongest bolt on solution. Sent them off an email regarding studs as their description is a bit lack lustre.

Also sent plohl a PM to see what the deal is with what he is machining up.

Luke, there is a thread on MT.net about a problem with SE fitment and the seal on the inner end of the bearing. I have not had a problem with mine (but will have another look next week when the car is on the hoist), but it seems some have, so something to watch.

TLDR Summary:

The "problem" is with MSM and 2003+ NBs, they don't require the supplied bearing seal (part # 33-065 shown below), so don't use/install it (sell it on the forum!):

Just had a peak under my bone stock untouched 2003 NB (not the one I put the axles and hubs into) and there is definitely no seal installed.

Yep, I know about lack of rear seal in SE's at least. Thought it was only them because of the different shafts/diff.
So there you go they changed it from 2003.
So I wonder if it changed as part of Series 4 which was released in November 03, or series 3 in October 2002. I would bet on the latter. Either way not many Series 3 or 4's in Australia. Really only SE's.


V8Roadster got back to me regarding their Billet Hub Studs info.
So the deal is they are $195 USD with Studs supplied, not fitted.
Additional $25 to have them already pressed in.
Also, they use GM Stud Knurls. They say bigger than OEM, they didn't say what size exactly what model/part number.
Realistically these are probably overkill unless you are running fender flares with a massive offset wheel and slicks. Or 300kw atw.
