out of interest how do you fit in the car? seat mounted to the floor? im 6"2 and had to do that with my NA and sparco sprint to be comfortable.

looks great - all the best.

I'm 6" and without the full cage there's heaps of room. With the cage and roll bar padding the top corner of my helmet can touch some of the padding. But then, I've still got sliders under the seat as I still have the original steering wheel. I find it easier (and safer in an emergency) to get out by sliding the seat back. At least until I put a removable weel in.

You are more advanced than some, with 13 days to go some people have not even started their builds yet...

 I thought I was pushing sh*t uphill!

Good luck!

I'm in 4R. Unusual, I'm usually in the 40's.

Brakes done today in prep for another test and tune tomorrow.

What a weekend WTAC was. I sit back now after unpacking the car, tools, parts etc and think about what myself and a mate have done over the last few weeks to turn the little '5 into a bona fide track car, and I couldn't be happier.
We stuck to the ethos of the MX5 by maintaining it's lightweight with only a moderate power increase.
Unfortunately, I had only 2 flying laps for the whole weekend!
Even when I was on a flyer, and all sections green on the Racechrono, I was having to move out of the way of other (faster) drivers.
Because the first session was red flagged twice, then I missed sessions 2 and 3 with the manifold and exhaust off (I melted both water lines to the turbo) I went out in 28° temps and did my fastest time.
My WTAC campaign wouldn't of been possible without Brad Humphries. You were awesome, before the event and during. Dan Callow at CMA, both builds wouldn't have happened without you. Ian baker for putting this circus that is WTAC on.
I'd put up some photos of my car on track, but nobody took any!

My goal was a 1:52, which I hit. But it needs more power in this company, I couldn't even hit 195 down the straight. That's nearly 100kph slower than my evo!

Time to park the MX5 and get back on the Kombi. I want to be able to drive my family to lunch on Christmas day in it.

Ironically, the Kombi will make twice the power of my race car.

Great to catch up at WTAC. I know the feeling of being ‘slow’ and having to give track to cars on a hot lap whilst trying to do a hot lap yourself...

Was great to meet you guys and watch your progress over the course of the two days. Great effort, especially given the short time frame to get the car ready and the work that happened during the event.

Not sure how I missed the Kombi, that look like another great project. :D

Hahaha

Kombi is an Australian 1957 11 window that has had pretty much every piece of metal replaced, at the time I grafted in a full Samba roof conversion (full fold back roof and 8 skylights) and 2 extra side windows and rear corner windows so I could have a full 23 window bus.
Running gear/mechanical wise, it has a full front end (Red 9) conversion to double wishbone suspension with adjustable coilovers and rack and pinion steering and 4 piston disc brakes.
Gearbox is a brand new Subaru WRX 5 speed with reversed ring and pinion (to make it work backwards, obviously) and the engine is a new Subaru BRZ FA20 (with better head gaskets and ARP studs) and an AVO low mount turbo kit with PWR water to air cooler. Radiator, charge cooler and oil cooler mounted horizontally underneath all with fans, ducting etc.

Interior is a complete black leather with red double diamond stitch. 9 seater with a rear Rock-n-roll bed. Oh and safari windows all round.
The whole lot is run with a MOTEC M150.

It's my pride and joy.

You may need to fit wheelie bars.

 That combi looks amazing! Put that into WTAC next year and take on the drift bus

Shame about no photos of the ND on track. I didn't see it in the live stream either and wondered if you got it ready in time. Glad to hear you made it.
PS love the placement of the race dash
