Sometimes there's a thing as too much compression though, the BP's prefer more timing rather then more compression - E85 helps that though, best of both worlds. Not sure how the NC is tuned though.
If there's one thing I have learnt though, you really need to plan the build as a build - the top and the bottom need to be done to work together.
The MZR piston linings is very strong (reliable) if un-touched but can be significantly over bored at the expense of reliability - the age old issue with pushing the envelope I guess.
I have a bit of experience with them in european clubman racing but always with the benefit of TB's or carbs. It loves compression, cams, timing and revs revs and more revs.
On a race car I won't need the stock ecu although ECUtek can deliver a good tune but I want to look at digital dash, GPS etc as part of the package so I'll probably go standalone, defo E85, upgraded cooling, diff, gearbox internals. Brakes are interesting, stock brake calipers with upgraded pads and rotors together with some extra cooling will probably be enough for short races but again, I'm keen to see what people are running and get their feedback.
There seems a few options for a cage and I'll see what suspension/alignment people run but overall the car will be planned out before the build. Should be fun though but that's all for next year now.
