Hi all,
I bought another factory ECU with chiptorque chip for my SE and swapped it in, only to find out the car won't start.
Does anyone have tips to address this? I'm about to google the following
1. Reprogramming ECU immobiliser
2. Reprogramming keys
3. Getting chip installed into existing ECU
Not sure what the best approach is but I was originally hoping this would be a simple exercise!!

Get a professional to remove and put the chip into your original ECU.

Any ideas if the immobiliser will carry across from the chip? I've contacted chiptorque as well, waiting for a response.

If you read http://www.mazdabg.com/ftp-uploads/MAZDA%20material%20for%20technician/CT-L1007_en.pdf, you'll see that your ECU must match the transponder key and immobilser module.
You could get Mazda to reprogram your keys to match the ECU (doubtful since it's been modified) but you'd still need the matching immobilser module, OR send your original ECU along with the Chiptorque chip from the new ECU to Chiptorque and get them to install it in your original ECU.
You may still need the matching immobilser module, or get Mazda to program that to match too.
ie. The most likely way to get it working is sending back to Chiptorque.
Does the Chiptorque map correspond to the same modz in your car?
If not, it's unlikely to be as smooth as you'd like which is why you should only get a Chiptorque mod once you've finished with all your power modz.

Note that your stock ECU might need slight mods to accept the new chip.

Chiptorque chip came off wasp's old car. Was tuned for exhaust, begi cai and 2psi extra boost. Mine has a 3inch exhaust from nitrodann. Sounds like going through chiptorque would be the safest bet. I'll post what they come back with once I get a response, to help future forumers.

Too late to get the immobiliser unit and a key from Wasp's old car (ie the source of your ecu)?

I ended up sending my ECU and the ECU with the Chiptorque chip to Chiptorque, who socketed my ECU, moved the chip over and did some extra programming. Cost was $275.

I've been very impressed with the service, knowledge and pricing from Chiptorque to date. They are very patient and will give good advice on the most basic of questions. My tune has been very reliable and feels great, no niggly issues whatsoever.
