ND Turbo Track build
So, I bought an ND MX5. To be specific, an ND RF Limited Edition. Before it was delivered I'd bought a tonne of mods, not the least of which was an AVO Turbo kit.
Well, after 3 weeks of owning the LE, the pile of mods had grown so much, I really thought it would be a huge mistake to ruin a nice new car, so I sold it.
2 weeks later I bought a black soft top out of Gosford.
Although the black ST was a stat write-off, it was in pretty good condition. It was used as a track day/rally-sprint car and had sway bars, springs and a 2.5" Cat back.
The '5 Sat in my garage for 4 or 5 weeks untouched.
2 weeks ago, the work started.
With the help of a mate I stripped the interior of the car, including the removing the soft top.
I dropped the car out to JDI Fabrication to get a cage made up and it came out a treat. The work done by Jake was awesome!
I painted the cage in a specific UHT Rollbar paint that's a satin black. Came up a treat.
While the front bar was off I installed the Garage Vary Emblem intake. Basically it's a pipe that attaches behind the front M mazda emblem and joins to the factory cold air intake.
It means you need to grind all the insides of the M.
Next I swapped the factory shocks and Whiteline springs out for a set of custom made Cusco Zero 3E coilovers
Installed some Topstage bonnet vents yesterday.

Re: ND Turbo Track build
Another piece that cost a bomb but looks (and fits!) Awesome, the Fibreglass hardtop from DG motorsports in the U.S.
Having this was essential for me as I found I didn't fit (with my helmet on) in the softtop and even more so with the RF.
Hard top allows about 3.5" extra head room which meant I could have the cage further away from my head.

Haha, I noticed the "Mystery car" photo on the competitors profile page.
I guess the picture I sent in of a bone stock ND didn't float their boat.

Finally, I was waiting for this build thread to appear Would love to "upgrade" the SE one day and do an ND RF turbo track car, so will be keen to follow your progress. Will see you at WTAC.

Swing by and say Hi. I'm glad there's a few 5s entered this year.
Starting to button up the turbo install. Had the oil pan tapped for the turbo return line. Rather than right angle like AVO suggests I had a cocked slightly forward to clear the FM oil cooler kit lines.

Re: ND Turbo Track build
You're running out of time for having a car completed by mid October, so sounds exactly like the typical WTAC build then!
Sadly I can't make it to the event this year, hope the car goes well

Re: ND Turbo Track build
Hey Brendan,
Yep, exactly the same as every other WTAC build. lol
Still, it will be done by the end of next week, I'm spending every day on it. Test the week after for 3 weeks... done! or that's the plan.
Building the car mostly for MX5 Club Motorsports days.
