ninerwfo, thanks again for the great pictures and uploading the video (I’d be scratching my head a month trying to work out how to upload that!) I’m so glad we got a great day to take it for a good run after the touch up tune. Daz and I had to reattach a couple of hoses with stronger clamps that.....ahem...uhh..... blew off (???) after the little bit of spirited acceleration tests :lol:

(as well as a very minor coolant leak)
I think that maybe another Nasho run be sorted out soon with a few of the others :wink:

I thinks it may be time to discard the aging fab9 motorbike coils for LS heavy duty update. Last couple of drives seen some spectacular exhaust flame of unburnt E85. Either a plug is on its way out (5mm gapped and most likely) but the LS coil conversion is inevitable- fix it once fix it right :wink:

There is a video around about how good different coils are. It’s worth a watch . I was under the impression the Fab9 system was unreliable.

After just on 4 years the Fab9 Denso coils are starting to break down. They held up well for such a mammoth task that was set, but time to employ the do it once do it right philosophy with an overkill solution. Enter the IGN1A coil. Got a set ordered from Haltech (cheaper than from Mercury marine) as well as teeing up some 10.5mm leads and running a new heavy duty wire back to the battery. Should just be (hopefully a no issue) a BIG spark plug and play set up. The plan is to down size and relocate the radiator overflow bottle to have a cooler spot to mount them as pictured. More to come.

Now comes "The Fun Part", figuring out how/where to mount them

I'd start with looking at the SADFAB mount (the LS coils are round so are recessed into the bracket - you can't do that with IGN-1 coils though) for inspiration or the Singular mounts (you'll need the two rods to mount in the middle of the side brackets, one at top and one on bottom).

I see lots of cardboard templates in your future!

Mine are similar to the Singular mounts except I mount mine upside down compared to theirs since it gave me greater hood clearance:

Shortening the ignition leads is simple.

Gina’s engine bay is starting to look the business Lokiel :BROADY:

. We have had a bit of time to plan the location for the new coils and the placement. The rad overflow will be eliminated and a smaller one relocated to replace, so that will leave a good amount of space to mount in the front right corner well away from the heat. The mounting bracket we have on the way is purpose built for these coils. Plan is to get them in, measure up for the new leads to be made as well as sorting out the rewire work. Should be underway starting Monday.
