Back on topic

This is just a few laps from my run from 23/6/19 at Logic Wodonga with the AWDCC.

Notes:
Old tyres are no good, ran on some old AD08R's all day. Fun but slow.
Falcon was pretty well setup for handling, very surprising package.

Looked a lot of fun. Car seems to handle nicely, how do you find the balance?
Nice save at 2.30  8)

The handing is decent considering no alignment since I slapped in the coilovers on the garage floor.

The tyres at the last session were pretty bad as mentioned as well, the car was very loose. I am told that that we should be pushing up to 1.5 G in the corners when it is setup properly and with decent tyres. :P

So we did things:
Image

Moved the corner balanced weight by about 85kg

Camber:
Front 1.7
Rear 2.5

To do:
I need to remove the A/C system fully now (it doesn't blow cold any more anyhow). Any idea on the belt I need?
Also have to dry ice the gunk on the floor.
Fit bushes to increase front camber to about 2.5 degrees. (Whiteline Front Control Arm Upper Bushing Camber For MAZDA MX5 NC)
Roll cage - next year
ECU tuning, locally I was quoted about 2k for ECUtek based tune. Seems too much. ECU swap is the other option due to my location unless someone has another idea for me? (I have a Tactrix Openport 2.0 if someone has an idea where to start fiddling)

I paid about $2k for my ecutek tune, half that is for the licence.

Strip the actual AC compressor housing and keep the same belt.
Once the guts are removed it is lighter and free spinning and use the same belt.
MrTurkey wrote:Also have to dry ice the gunk on the floor.

I have not bothered with this as I figured it did not weigh much.
MrTurkey wrote:Fit bushes to increase front camber to about 2.5 degrees. (Whiteline Front Control Arm Upper Bushing Camber For MAZDA MX5 NC)

I just did these, the Offset bushing kits are only about $70 and easily fitted.
MrTurkey wrote:Roll cage - next year

I had my 1/2 cage built for about $1500 at Deckspeed.

I recall my licence and tune being a about $1500 - 2000. so sounds about right.

Some of the outtakes from June, cut together into a short video.

Thanks for the ideas, if 2k is the number I'll have to budget and save for that for the ECU tune.

You own scales now? These are a great asset to have if you play around with setup alot!

Without driver...

Now the decision is what tyre size, rim width, offset etc...

Without wheels the car is 905kg, I still have to remove 100kg more to get to my target AND fit rules. However for scurteneering I will fit the heaviest set of rims I have :)
So do I run the AD08R's (205/50/15) on:
  1. 15 x 7 +38 (6UL's) which would be the lightest rim
  2. 15 x 8 +25 (Advanti storms)
  3. 15 x 6.5 +38 (AV1D)
  4. 15 x 8 +20 (AV1D) heaviest setup

Not my scales but good to have someone handy that has a set. 8)

Take off about 105kg for me and you have the car weight.

For the wheel combo I would vote 1 or 2, are you set on the width of the tyre?

Yes fixed on tyre width, AD08R's only come in max 205 for 15's :(

Run from the weekend, I try to put together a video from each event I go to.

The day was a bit cool and rained through the middle of the day. This was from the final run when the track was dried out pretty well.

Hi Guys,
Finally got my 58 second lap at Logic Wodonga. Changes were an alignment and also swapping back to my AR1's on the 16x8 FD wheels. Weather was warm and I thought I drove it pretty well this time.

Also some bonus drone footage from the track day below:

That is a wrap from me for the year. I hope to be able to bring things on next year when I get my shed done.

Alignment below for feedback too.
