NB SE Turbosmart kompact plumb back BOV installation question

Can some one advise whether the Kompact BOV installed incorrectly?

I think not. I think that is the same as recently installed on my car. Going from memory, the inlet is at one end of the cylinder, the outlet on the side. Are there arrows moulded into the body? I'd check on my car but it is inaccessible right now, but hopefully there will be other replies, confirming or correcting my memory.

The vacuum port on the top (bottom of picture) suggests the inlet is on the side and outlet on the bottom (top of picture). So that looks right to me (I don’t have this specific valve, but a similar one).

What I can’t see is the vacuum line to the intake manifold. Is that connected? It won’t work without that.

I agree with GM.

I just went through my old photos looking for a shot of my BOV, rather than walk 200m down to look at the car in person! It's the same model, but it's in a different orientation. The long end goes into the intake manifold, the T section heads back to the air intake.

Different throttle body elbow setup to OPs. The hose back to the air intake snakes down under.

GM & Lachy are correct, high pressure pushes towards the base of the internal piston and against the internal spring.

It's the same on my SE. :wink:

Plumbed to vent into the airbox which is not quite right (should be back into inlet). But if you wan't the loud 'whooosh' that's what you do.

Not necessarily, he's MAF-less, so it doesn't need to be metered and accounted for. Though it probably does make more wooshes this way than not.

Should be swapped around. Looks like the outlet port is going to the charge pipe and the inlet port going to the airbox

I wonder how it would drive as technically when the throttle closes all the charge air would be trapped and forced back against the turbo (maybe causing the turbo to stall). BUT there is a school of thought that BOVs aren't necessary (in low boost applications?)
It would be interesting to drive it as is (effectively no working BOV) and then drive it with the BOV in the correct orientation.
