Nice!
I’ve got the same size RPF1’s and I had to roll and slightly pull my arches to get my 235’s to fit.
I reckon on a stock powered car the standard size wheels and tyres are quicker tbh but those 221’s are sticky!

Yes, I have the FD stock 16x8 wheels that feel a good match up for the power right now. The RPF1's are future proofing and testing cornering speed gains.

Re: MrTurkey's NC3 Track Only Build
Got out to Phillip Island for the first time with the MX5 club VIC & TAS.
Perfect weather for the day and the track is amazing. So much faster and more flowing than any of the other circuits I have been to.
This 2nd session turned out to be my best with the other sessions having traffic or accident issues (I wasn't involved).
The in car video doesn't do the circuit justice, you really have to drive it.
Enjoy my first timer efforts. Lap time 1:58.6 which was a bit down on what the more experienced guys were doing but I was happy for my first visit.

Nice and smooth as usual Mr Turkey.
The track looks like it would take a fair bit of time to learn?

Blimey, what is going on at around 1:40 - overtaking on the outlap?! Was that a WRX Club day, they can be a bit 'take no prisoners', and your description of the later sessions fits them to a T. Alfa Club are better, in my experience anyway.
It is a great circuit, but soooo fast! You noticed that, the contrast with just about anywhere else is dramatic. I am itching to get the SE down there ...
I have always felt PI was very smooth, but either your camera was loose and vibrating, the circuit has deteriorated and become quite rough, or your suspension is incredibly harsh ... ?
I reckon you have the lines down pretty pat, maybe use a bit more road on the top of Lukey, and you could probably take T1 a bit faster, T2 is the big braking event (for me anyway, and it depends on what rubber you are using), but a couple (I think?) of 1:58s for your first time there is a great result.

Thanks for the comments guys.
That was an Audi TTRS that was getting past us early and some of the subi's were warming up on the Saturday for the Sunday Subi Nats.
The track is all about confidence. I found the more laps I did (traffic issues aside) the better it felt doing those speeds through corners. Braking later and carrying more corner speed is where I'll make up a lot of time.
Starting out my tyres (the used Z221's) were very slippy but came better as the day went on. Getting used to the speed and thinking about slippy tyres wasn't great for confidence but it was coming. Also another car in the wall dented the confidence a little.
I am sorely tempted to get a new set of A050's when the budget allows and go all out.
Lukey I was warming up to, had a bit of a slide during the clip up there but should use more road.
T1 I am way too slow, I think in my setup I should have been trying to go around at about 170+ (it's a confidence thing). T2 corner speed was better than T1 for me, still down a tad going in though I think. T2 to the T4 braking zone at about 100 is flat out. Power on as soon as you can, break going into T6, don't wash too much speed though as it is uphill a little. Flat out through T7, T8 (feels awesome here) and wash a bit off at T9 (Lukey). Heavy braking T10 and on power as soon as possible, ideally flat out through T11, T12 (don't lift, coming on to straight at over 160). Max speed for my car/driving on the day was about 207 on the straight.
Some useful maps, also check Beavis YouTube.

I’ve just got the same GPS receiver, where do you mount yours in the car?

Re: MrTurkey's NC3 Track Only Build
Yes, I saw the wobble over Lukey - probably trying to hold it too tight on the exit, to set up the classic entry line to MG? There is not a lot of time to be gained from there to the entry of MG, but the exit speed from MG is carried all the way to T1, or T2 braking if you can take T1 flat, that makes MG exit pretty critical, more so than the entry.
T1 you have the camber working for you, and I always have to work up to it. Like T12, I keep telling myself that if it starts getting tail happy, just take some lock off and drive off on the outside, even if it means going into, preferably over and through, the gravel trap there (secret being keep the power on and don't brake). Better to do that than spin back inside, or hit the gravel trap sideways.
T12 needs to be respected, I have had a major tankslapper there (only divine intervention kept me out of the wall ), and getting pushed off-line at a wet 6hr I put two wheels off on the outside on exit - both required a change of underwear . As you point out that corner is FAST, and because it looks open, doesn't mean it won't bite.
I need to check the Vic's program and see what the dates are for PI later this year, just talking about it gets the juices flowing ...

I took off the slippery pad on the back and got some decent velcro tape and put it in the middle of the dash near the windscreen. The plastic pad on the back was resistant to bonding with the tape and nearly ended up out the window.

Yes I picked up full throttle a bit early and too tight which provided some excitement over Lukey.
Going flat through T1 I would love to see, if you do get along I expect some in car footage.
I have dates for the VIC & TAS MX5 club at PI of:
July 28, 6 hour regularity <<-- i can't make this
December 8, Sprints (AROCA) <<-- i would love to get here for this

There is also the 2nd November PI event we are running in (run by WRX club) (is a replacement for the cancelled August Sandown event)

Thanks for the dates!
That Dec 8 AROCA meet would be my pick, except I have a grandchild's birthday then ... I might need to work on my negotiating skills and see if I can get a leave pass

Oh wow! Two days! Thanks Tony, that is top of the pile now, budget may be the issue, but it is great to have two promising choices. Rather than clog up this thread (sorry Mr Turkey!) I think I will start another for that event.
