Re: Daffy's SE
Looking good, Daffy!
I'm not surprised you need a better spark at 25psi! LS should do it, I've also seen some guys on MT.net going to IGN-1A coils, but there's no off the shelf solution yet. Supposedly they're better again than the current LS coils. Haltech sell them, and if Darren is comfortable fabing up a bracket and doing some wires, they could be the best solution.

I tried to make an appointment to see Darren this Monday as I have the day off, but he's away and coming back a day or two later! Damn. I've got some parts piling up over here

Very nice mate. Yeah dyno numbers dont mean much i see a lot of fudged figures these days then the cars dont back it up on the track street etc.
if you pushing 25 psi on that turbo on e85 you got a nice little weapon of a car enjoy it mate

You may also have to look at your plugs as well, you may need to gap them down. Also what heat range are you running?

Thanks. Just considering some longer term options regarding a local mechanic and tuner.

I'm planning on trying to convince the PITS guys to have a go with Megasquirt. Not sure if they're open to it or not. At the very least I'm familiar with the software and can help point them at the right menus and options for them to apply their experience and knowledge.

I may be biased, but I truly believe that you’d be very hard pressed to find as good a tuner as Matty at PITS

That would be great, we really do need a decent tuner here in SE QLD. I've heard good things about Matty before, and have emailed him to ask if he does them. Pretty sure he'll say no, but maybe if a few more people enquire about them then he might think about it at least

If he won't/can't do it, and he then does a poor job, who do you blame? He may be reluctant as he does not want to disappoint as he cannot guarantee a decent tune.

Gents, I’ve had a talk with Matty on your behalf today RE tuning the Megasquirt- simple answer is no, and Bruce has pretty much touched on the part of Matty’s reasoning.
Matty can tune a MS, but said that the cost to customer is prohibitive and the end result is not worth it, with just how much time and work has to go into getting a quality tune on a MS up to his standard. His work ethos wont allow him to do to others what I had done to me a few years ago with the “other tuner” that I 1st went to with the Microtech set up (1st posts in my build thread refers,) Where they were more than happy to waste my time, have me come back again and again, experimenting with my hard earned $$$ to finally end up with a substandard tune I wasn’t happy with, running the engine dangerously lean and ended up costing me many times over the original purchase price of an ECU that eventually ended up in the bin, literally.
Matty doesn’t mince his words and pretty much said that as a solid product he doesn’t think much of the MS. You would have to let him see the car, let him know what you want out if it, get his opinion and go from there. Customer satisfaction and value for money is important to him, and he hates hearing stories of tuners that work with products they wouldn’t recommend or use themselves just to make a quick buck. He’s gone above and beyond for me, and that’s really appreciated on my part.
