The provided magnets in the new speedo set up suffered horribly with centrifugal force. Attached to the drive shaft and after an hour or so of “spirited” driving, the magnets, (secured solid with cable ties,) flexed hard and popped out of their plastic casing like one of Sigourney Weaver’s Alien movie’s chestbursters! New 3D printed sheathed magnets with twin cable tie groves in a much more durable plastic case were ordered and now installed.

At this stage they seem to have held up well to a quick test. These ones instead of being strapped down directly to the drive shaft are positioned on the front drive shaft yoke. The speedo (set off 2900 rpm @ 100km/h on a flat run in 6th gear) is accurate to <1km/h difference to GPS readings.

I can get 350 km on vodka following civilised Mx5 club drives.
100 is less when I’m on the gas

You should think about being in Sydney around mid October...

The problem child would look great here http://stylizedshow.com.au/registration/

Time for a refreshing of the Problem Child. A run on the dyno today.... its still as mad as a cut snake and blistering quick, but after a bit of chin rubbing and and head scratching me thinks it may be time to visit Mr Brendan Bevis’ on line shop and get me a new 36 trigger wheel an an LS coil pack kit- the current denso motorcycle coil pack and microtech X4 igniter are pretty much superseded now and I’m starting to look at getting the power feed and timing in more refined and smoothly (as well as tying to get her to take more timing). Last power run was a while ago, it’s amazing at just how much more slick and f**king hard the Child is moving now after only a couple if hours on the dyno for a freshener tune. :DIY:

Very nice mate have been watching this in the build for a long time.
How much boost are you running at the moment ?
98 fuel or e85 >?
Any dyno figures from the dyno you just went on

I have a stash of penicillin for just such an emergency, but in all seriousness I’m more worried about my todger being cut off by the darling wife with a blunt spoon when the next bank statement comes in than going gangrene and dropping off from an STD

Cheers mate, I hope your finding my thread a worthwhile read! The Problem Child is running a flex fuel setup mate, I’m around the 18psi mark on 98, as for the E85 around 25psi. As for the dyno numbers- I don't read too far into the numbers, I believe that hasn’t changed much since the last run a couple of years back (somewhere north of 380-400rwhp mark- this run was just a nice tidy up to maintain) Dyno numbers are too easily manipulated and don’t always transfer to the real feel road or track performance, now days I don’t find the end numbers to hold as much relevance as the road feel after a quality tune is complete, not just in mine, but other cars I’ve had the privilege to test drive- its more about having as perfect a balance of safe available power that transfers both smoothly and effectively to the wheels with as little loss as possible through the driveline, (taking into consideration that if your wheels are spinning your not winning!!) The Child at this stage is well in the 3.5 secondish 0-100km/h mark when there is good heat in the tyres and minimal 2nd/3rd gear spin. Too often I’ve had “dyno queens” that although boasting big numbers, simply cant keep up with the Problem Child because they want a big bottom line dyno numbers at the end of it all and just unfortunately end up morphing into an un-drivable Frankenstein's monster that s only good for making smoke and noise with no go forward or cornering ability, and sadly spending more time on a mechanics hoist than on the road. More to come soon with a few more finer point refinements, cheers

So the assumption is that you want to go Sequential injection? That’s if the SE doesn’t already have it. I’m currently trying to get my head around it. And will journey into that. I got one of the 36-2 trigger wheels while converting Feenix but for other reasons. It does make initial starting very easy.
