Time for a new thread, see http://mx5cartalk.com/forum/viewtopic.p ... 57#p942574
There has been a lot of interest in the US by the track crowd in a better solution for the front hub problem (short bearing life, hub structural failures). We have the local Bosnjack solution and the Miatahubs solution, both big dollar items as they are fully original designs.
There also has been a bloke working on an adaptation of a BMW hub, and this has now reached the stage of a group buy. This uses a slightly modified replaceable BMW bearing, and is structurally stronger than the Mazda hub.
Development thread: https://www.miataturbo.net/showthread.php?p=1534810
Group buy thread: https://www.miataturbo.net/showthread.php?p=1534609
Note that this setup still requires some (as yet unspecified) machining of the Mazda ABS rings, which will probably have to be done here. Also note that the little Aussie bleeder is currently under USD$0.70 and that puts them at A$500 plus before freight.
Posting this for information, not to start a debate over whether these are needed or not.

Interesting.
I see Lokiel has put his name down already.
I am awaiting the reviews people give them after they go to fit them. I wish he posted a picture of it actually fitted to the car!!!

Last time I looked there was one from a beta tester (track car). Also see Miatahubs thread, different product but could expect similar outcomes (see esp brakes - Sav?)

? ? Many pictures, including fitted .... are you sure you're looking at the development thread Luke?

Yes, it is a silly arrangement.
I have to correct myself, the 'beta tester' was in fact an E30, he just chimed it to describe the E30 user experience with the unmodified bearings/hubs/studs.

You fitted these yet?
Still sorta interested in them, but would need to talk with the supplier when it comes to studs offered.
Judging by the pics in the thread I'm not sure if the supplied studs would be long enough with the AP Racing big front brake setup from V-Sport.
Ed could you confirm if you had another 13mm spacer(equivalent to AP kit) if the studs are long enough to still bolt the wheels on since you have the bearings?

Ummm … no
Yes, I saw your posts on that subject. I have some 10mm spacers, I'll throw then on and measure the thread showing. May take a few days though.

Thats cool. No rush.
Still have one more set of OEM hubs to chew up for a while.

Re: PSA - BMW front hub conversion for NA/NB
How did you guys go with the Brofab kits with the cheap hubs? We’ve got a few sets here in SA with hubs sourced locally that have developed play after one track day. Any feedback from people running these would be appreciated.
