Aussie dynos must have a problem cos the Americans claim 200 on theirs  or horses have different power down here.

Just a bit more on this. The main guys in the US for the 2.5 swap are Dynotronics, Moto-east(Xtreme) and Goodwin. Lets just say that they are very good at building a market! As such, you have to read the stuff they put out very carefully and be aware that they want to sell products. A good example is one of them claiming their 2.5 build hits 200 rwhp. You have to read well into one of the threads before they give up the gem that this engine uses a larger header, and crucially, the Moto-east intake, I'd put money on it being a carless mid pipe too. You could very easily be led to believe this was a stock engine. Now add in that they are probably using a dyno that reads high, (who wouldn't if you're in business to sell performance products) and you can see how it's possible to find another 25-30rwhp.
Another buyer beware is the tune. A lot of folks in the US seem to just go for the flash tune but here in Australia, no one I talked to was prepared to do a flash tune, it had to be done on a dyno and that costs another $1000. I believe if time isn't important, you could buy a tune from the US, get them to post you a cable and then spend time sending log files back and forth but from what I'd read, this can take weeks getting the tuner in the US to respond with updated files.

Sounds like good result so far but a lot more power to come with the turbo.
That will be a wild ride when complete.

That’s a true hero thread! :D I’ve been keeping a close eye on it.
From what I’ve read, the NC 6spd is the weak point :NB8B:

Americans dynos most likely use different methods to us to get their outputs, cos the are consistently 30hp higher than ours.
For example, stock NBs Dyno at 130whp there whereas they are 100whp here, I/H/E modded 8Bs are 150hp where ours are 120hp and stock NCs dyno at 150 also, versus 120whp here.

So their 200hp is actually 170whp in our world, so about 126rwkw which is pretty much bang on what custard tarts made...

From what I’ve read, the NC 6spd is the weak point in the chain but at that point the engine would need to be built so I’ll be keeping it below that level.

 Neither of mine would survive
For fun I cherrypicked the parts for a turbo build off Fab9’s site the other day, including their turbo kit and upgraded cooling, full exhaust and brakes it came to $12,000 US so that’s about $15k Aus plus shipping and at least $4k tune and your up to $20k Aus

Based on your description of the tuner I may be your man. I ran 177.3 rwhp with 2.5 head, Kelford stage 2 cams, 10kg flywheel, full exhaust, 2.0 injectors & running conservative timing advance in case of bad fuel. Tuner reckons there's another 10-15hp in the timing but we went on the safe side as it's mainly for road use.

Apart from cams just swapped everything over from 2.0 - 2.5 & dumped it in.

Another Brisbane 2.5 swapper, welcome on board Alan. Would be good to meet up and have a look at yours. I’m over in Samford Valley but get to cars n coffee most months.

Great power you made, do you know which cams yours were? I had a look on the Kelford site and could only find stage 1 cams. My cams came from Deckspeed and were their 2.5 specific road cam which I was told was a custom Kelford grind.

Which exhaust are you running and any plans for any track days?

Here’s a clip of the Tart heading up Mt Glorious yesterday.
I really need a seperate mic as the wind noise makes it almost unwatchable I’m afraid.
