Probably, but only when the new spring goes in as we're not finished yet. The power curve is very smooth/progressive though and the torque curve is nice and straight, keeping its max well into high rpm.

How does the GTX feel coming from the IHI? Obviously more power, but how's it delivered? Do you notice it respond any faster/slower?

I can't say it delivers faster at the moment. I need to do a PI or Sandown to truely know. I suspect no faster from the limited street "seat of the pants". I expect the power will wind on faster with the rise of revs as it goes. The IHI response was prety good.

Thanks for your support. These things seem to take a long time but that is the way it is.
Getting no recommendations for someone in Melbourne is understandable as it is fraught with danger for anyone who is let down by one who is recommended. But I know what I want and I'll get there in the end.

It is a shame we don't have an MX5 tuner down here that we can find easily. There are plenty of 5's setup for racing and street , there must be shops doing the work.

This could lead to a good idea.
Trouble is, tuners are graded by the aftermarket ECU rather than car makes.
It would great if we had a state by state list of tuners by ECU experience on this forum. The tuner must be consulted and must approve being on the list.
Are there any tuners out there that want to put their foot forward?

What about the guy Beavis used? I can't recall it off the top of my head, but it's in one of recent his Youtube videos if you want to hunt for it. He runs Megasquirt, and the guy seemed perfectly comfortable and professional in tuning it.

There are a trillion different ecu/engine/sensor/modification/firmware variants.
The job is tricky and involves a lot of hypothesising due to the low chances that this combination of everything matches anything you have done before.
Not only do you need a firm understanding of the way the ecu uses your input data to calculate the output to the engine, all sorts of things on each car behave differently especially with older cars, where things like idle control valves get gummed up and bahave differently to one another, and oil viscosity affecting the behaviour of variable cam systems.
So it's a bit like expecting someone who is experienced with windows to be able to write software to run some external mechanical device which itself has bespoke modifications, and just because he knows windows when you arrive with the car you cant even tell him if its win95 or vista, what service pack, you only remember half of the hardware inside the machine, and your windows device is an X Box... and again, he has to program that x box to run an old half worn out modified mechanical device.
It's really not the copy and paste job people believe it is. And after all of that if you dont get it done in 3/4 of a day you lose money and if you break it you bought it.
Some people need a more realistic approach to getting their car tuned, I believe.

I understand what your saying Dan, but surly there are tuners down here with mx5 experience. Experience with the platform must make things quicker/easier. I would love to have someone local, driving to car to nsw for work is time consuming
