However, I will be putting a 'stig' into the car for a few months due to real life events...

I would be willing to volunteer.
I mean, I've got no qualifications and limited experience, but hey... what could go wrong?

Re: The Roadster NA Journey Begins
6 speed gearbox is now not economical to repair... putting in a 5 speed.
The 5 speed 3rd is very close to the 6 speed 4th - this is good
The 5 speed 4th and 6 speed 5th are equal (1:1 gear)
The 5 speed 5th and 6 speed 6th are close as well
The biggest issue will be 2nd will need to be used on the 5 speed (but not very often) and hence the change from 2 to 3. However the acceleration in 2 is MUCH better than the 6 speed 3rd!.

You know the 5-speed is not as strong as the 5-speed?

Will find then!greenMachine wrote:You know the 5-speed is not as strong as the 6-speed?
Issue is now availability. 6 speeds are getting harder to find and even worse the condition of the internals are unknown. I would rather rebuild 5 speed boxes.

Meh, late to the party, but drive it right and gearbox will last.
Ask me how I know, I drove a 200hp 210ftlb of torque truck motor with a glass gearbox behind it for many race seasons with 6k clutch dump race starts.....

Re: The Roadster NA Journey Begins
Spent some time getting the Racepak software setup with custom pages to track suspension setup
One of the benefits of being on Team Racepak is the opportunities and contacts it opens. Been helping out writing custom pages for a local drag car. Whilst I cannot display a run, the acceleration of these cars has to be seen! However, it has 8 x AFR's and 8 x EGT's. I wrote a custom page that scales based on the time frame of the run that wants to be looked at.
Other news is decided to not renew the MX5 club QLD rego. To keep my CAMS license I have joined another club, cheaper membership cost AND a very active motorsport section! Look for the new club sticker at WTAC this year...
