Passenger side rear tow hook for NA?
Anyone able to advise where I can acquire a rear tow hook that will fit on the passenger side (opposite to the exhaust tip outlet) on an NA? The MX5Mania ones < https://www.mx5mania.com.au/epages/mx5m ... hooks-0001 > only fit the drivers side next to the exhaust outlet.

I recently fitted one from Jass Performance, the Dural powder coated version IIRC. Never used it so can't comment further really.

Yes, passenger side. I think that's the one though I bought the black powdercoat version so it doesn't stand out.

Cheers. I've bought one and installed it but am planning to change the setup as I noticed that the bolt holes in the two hook are larger diameter than the OEM bolts (which are either M6 or M8 size I think) - I was wondering either making spacers up or drilling it out and fitting bolts of a more substantial size through there.

Believe it or not, but the minimum breaking load in single shear of a 6mm high tensile bolt shank is about 1400 kg. One would lift your car of the ground. Two will be more than fine for towing.

As if it's going to be used for towing.

While hopefully it won't need to be used, I think it's dangerous to leave something like that fitted if it's not secured properly incase it's used by someone - if they let go they can do some serious damage!

They are M8 and if you went and purchased 2x 10.9 High tensile bolts for a dollar each you would have a towhook capacity of just under 7 tonnes.
Dont overthink it.

FWIW, mine came with (or did I order them separately?) 10.9 fasteners.
