He's modded it to a fuel return system, like the NA has, NB is returnless. So this added line completes the circuit back to the tank.

.........meanwhile, a bit of fab work for the starter motor position and flywheel in. We do need to get another engine to gearbox sandwich plate in and looks like a few more “love” taps and custom rework for the custom exhaust, thankfully no real issues around the dump pipe! Nearly there!!!!

What's wrong with the adaptor plate? I kinda thought that was a major part of what you paid the money for.

Not quite sure yet- It was a late Friday call and mechanic Daz was finishing up for the day, he’ll explain more to me when we catch up on Monday-

My thought also. Did you get the right gearbox, or is the Australian one a bit different?
I never met a horsepower I didn't like (thanks bwob)

As far as we can gather, they specify the box from a non M series vehicle.. although it being exactly the same internals! Seems M series bell housing is slightly different to non M by 3mm, but we accounted for 5mm extra clearance, achieved by slightly machining the spigot bearing seat. Its now in, and running just off to get some exhaust re route.... more to come!

Re: Daffy's SE
Daffy, you should share this over at miataturbo.net as well. They love new information about installs, and yours is very interesting because it's an RHD car, and you've used an M gearbox.

Great work. Love seeing the perseverance and ingenuity involved in getting some of these builds done.

Will do, I just signed up to that forum yesterday!
I had the 1st mostly sedate run yesterday (a short highway run but a lot of traffic about and bloody hot weather, topped off with a 15 minute torrential downpour. I did manage to get to my tuner who plugged in for a few minutes and sorted a very minor idle issue, as well as talk of putting in a bit more boost early next year
At this stage with everything running I’m just going to see how it all beds in- the new framework and gearbox mounts have definitely increased the cabin noise, as well as the chatter in idle when the clutch isn’t engaged- it will be back up on the hoist next week when the new speedo sensor gets put in so I’ll look into the noise side of it then. 2 pics of the complete underside as well as the exhaust alterations to the domp pipe end and the bracket Dave the exhaust builder knocked up in lieu of having the exhaust flex tube removed. More to come
