Which Seat, NC, Track only

Postby MrTurkey » Fri Aug 03, 2018 3:59 pm

Hi Guys,

What seat should I look at for my NC track only build?

I am 180cm and 100kg (i know, heavy)

My location makes it difficult to get to go try some out. I would try to before putting down the $$$ though.

I am going to get a full cage built at some stage. What direction should I go that won't cost the earth?

Thanks,
Chris

I have Sparco Pro2000 seats in my NC race car. The driver's seat is on a Sparco race slider with custom mounts, while the passenger seat is on the std mount points with no slider.
FWIW, i am 186cm and a bit over 100kg.
The Pro2000 seats are slightly narrower than the Sprint V's in my wife's NB race car, but I fit ok.

The NC had a cage when I bought it, but for the NB we had a cage built by Phil from Street Neat Welding near Gosford. It was the 26th MX-5 cage he had done and cost around 1800 back in 2013.

I’ve been looking at the Sparco Grid2

Thanks guys, just saw your replies now.

Unrelated, do you run without the rear bar or run a cut rear bar?

Not sure what you mean? I run a brown davis bar that has removable rear stays so the soft top reclines. It’s CAMS approved but a hard top doesn’t fit over it.
The harness attaches to a cross member behind the seats.
I had SAAS seats but they were too big. I had them mounted to a custom frame which attached to the existing seat bolting points.
