Daily Duties Suspension

Postby MINX » Sun Oct 14, 2018 11:15 am

Ok, so im still around.
The SE is just about due for her 200,000k service. That aside, i really only use her for comuting to work these days. Over track days and club runs, and with a schnoodle fur child the three of us generally take the CX5 everywhere. Was toying with idea of selling, after nearly 10.5yrs of fun, i dont really want to. Currently dont really want a third car, so...
What should i replace the BC coilovers with, for daily city driving. Dont want 4wd look, want to maintain max 100mm clearance and some handling.
Suggestions please?

If the coilovers are still OK then just get the springs changed over to something like 5/3 Kg/mm and set the dampers to softish.

i had 6/4 in one of my cars once. and i thought is was a barge. was used to 7/5 or 8/6. so if you go softer again, should get what you are aiming for.

Good to see you're still about. It'd be a shame for you to sell MINX.

If your BC's a shot, I think you should speak with the folks at MCA and get them to build a set around your requirements, they'll do custom springs etc, with quality valving.

If your BC's still have life, then like the others say, try getting some softer springs.

What roll bars are you running? Going softer on them should help too.

Never been a fan of BCs. For my money, Bilstein PSS9 are the dugs gudz for street use. Comfort plus control on soft, decent track/mountain driving performance on harder settings.

MCA have a big fan base, but I have not tried them.

I never met a horsepower I didn't like (thanks bwob)

mm at $95 each for replacement springs, and the effort to change them, not really worth it. And BC also highly reccomend a whole new set because they lengthen the shocks accordingly to avoid bump limits with the softer springs.
I just dropped the rear sway bar( not needed at road speeds) and that relaxed the car a bit. RB front sway is at softest setting. I guess that's it for now.
