Soft top repair patch – what's available?

Postby Hoolio » Wed Sep 19, 2018 11:37 pm

I'm looking for a patch or something similar to repair a small hole in a soft top which is in otherwise good condition. Any recommendations?

Really it's just a matter of some waterproof contact adhesive, and a piece of vinyl similar to the top.

Contact adhesive can be bought from Supercheap auto etc, the vinyl you can likely get from Clark rubber, or anywhere that makes tonneau covers for utes/boats/caravans etc (of just have a look in their bin, they'll probably have a heap of offcuts in there that will be plenty big enough for a patch.)

It's done exactly the same as a bike tube patch.

I had a small tear in mine repaired by Uticolor. Still ok almost 5 years later.

I use sail repair tape, purchased from a boat shop, works well.
NC Roadie, NC Racey, ND Racey….and a 30AE

Plus several others in the bone yard...

Ta Lou - was going to suggest something marine, but hadn't heard of the sail repair tape.
