Re: The Roadster NA Journey Begins
But would you be competitive enough to get an invite in Open Class?

Re: The Roadster NA Journey Begins
Do a 45 second lap of QR Sprint and possibly...
Would need to get the car down to the min weight of 799 kg, whereas in clubsprint it is 804 kg (naturally aspirated is allowed a 10% lighter weight).
If I get to 799 kg in open max tyre width is 255 whereas at 804 in clubsprint the limit is 265 width.
The simple answer is as per Shane and Madjak stick to the control tyre and build to the rules. Now where to find 200kg to stay within clubsprint rules...

I can give you an idea of how to get rid of 10kg or so.

Re: The Roadster NA Journey Begins
I forgot to add that these times were done WITHOUT the butterfly brace. The butterfly brace was removed for a few reasons:
The car is down to 993.4 in weight with almost 30ltrs of fuel in. Plus there is another 2.8kg to come off when I swap from the 6.5" rims to the 8" Advanti Storms! Get rid of 25ltrs of fuel and the lighter rims and we have about 976kg, this is over 100kg taken out of the car since July 2013. However still have a long way to go to get down to 804. Bonus is the driver has lost 7kg and hope to loose at least 3 more before WTAC!
- It weights 8.1kg
- Does it really help test

Re: The Roadster NA Journey Begins
The shell has almost been completely stripped. What suprised me was that the complete wiring loom (sans brackets) weighted in at 12kg, I thought that it would have been a lot more. Notwithstanding the Racepak Smartwire weight 0.750 kg so that leaves a fair bit for wiring... A good project for 2019.

Re: The Roadster NA Journey Begins
Well worth getting someone else to drive your car, especially when you have as much data as you do to compare the two different drivers. Great to see there's more speed to be had in the car, just need the confidence to carry that extra corner speed
Interesting to hear that Nankang are bringing out a 245/40/15. I elected to stick with the 8" rims because of the lack of tyres to suit the 9s, but this might sway my thinking down the track. AR-1s seem to be getting some good wraps, but I want to see how quick we can go on the AD08Rs before deciding on whether to switch tyres and classes.
It's a shame that your only real choice is to go to 17s if you want to run anything wider than a 205 in WTAC. I would still love to run in the WTAC at some stage, but for the next year or two I'll concentrate on the local Time Attack series, including Jap Nats, and King of QR, and events such as AUS Time Attack, the VIC Time Attack and SA Time Attack events.
Best of luck at WTAC Mark, hopefully the weather holds out. Will be watching the timing screens in anticipation.

Unless AD08R's come out wider for 15" rims then it is either stick to 205's and move to a 16/17 rim. Widest in 16" is 225/50 and 17" widest is 255/40.
However, the change will also come with increased unsprung mass. Will the extra width result in faster overall lap times? I have a plan for 2019 and it involves getting to min weight and staying NA...

All the best, wish I was there to watch.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.
