Can anybody help me with a contact to purchase a rebuild kit for an IHI turbo for an se
I tried an agent and they seemed to think that IHI don’t make one for them. Any advice would be appreciated

Wow a grand.
Any idea how much more it would have cost to change it to a decent one

If the car is standard... a LOT.
I build these things for a job, and its 6k+ to swap to a good one because you need a new ECU/tune, and with that a clutch, injectors, exhaust... its easy to get carried away.

Re: Turbo rebuild kit.
Thanks for info fellas, I looked on line at some rebuild kits a lot of them for under $100, but it is tricky to tell if they would suit this model turbo. I have the stage 2 mania kit on mine on mine so could go down the Garrett route but not sure I want to go that way, might get a bit expensive and fiddly compared to a rebuild kit, however that might become more appealing if it’s going to cost a grand?
Did GCG make their own kit for it Dan? Was that including impellers, shaft, bearings etc, they’re not that complicated to fit a new kit to unless the shaft has to be balanced. Mine has just ticked over 200000 ks, there is a tiny amount of oil in the pipe work but not a lot and occasionally there is some fumes noticeable, no smoke noticeable and uses only I tiny amount of oil.
How many ks can one expect to get from a turbo? It’s had a relatively average life, been well serviced, gets a bit of a hammering occasionally in the hills, but rarely in the red. I was just thinking it might be time to overhaul it

Re: Turbo rebuild kit.
The Se turbo is an IHI model RHF5, specifically a VJ35. All RHF5 rebuild kits fit it, they did new bearings and seals, balance and testing. It lasted about 1 hour on 14psi.
Id move away from the IHI if I were you but it is expensive.

Cheeers Dan,it’s often not as simple as u thought it might be. Perhaps I might try one of those kits and see how it goes, I’ve been running around 14 psi and it seems to b going ok. If it craps itself I’ll look at a turbo change
