01/10/18 - Dodgy Day (Queensland)

Postby Magpie » Thu Aug 30, 2018 10:12 am

First dodgy day for 2018. PM for address.

The Dodgy Day address will be at the same address (Purga) will start early and finish when it finishes. Normal requests please bring some smally eats/drinks if you can (or want to). No problems with bringing tools are anything else that will make the dodgy day a 'fun' day. Maybe Lokiel will attend and bring his small smoker...

If you have a large job to be done please let me know so that we can make sure the right people are available. Notwithstanding the previous NO CLUTCHES, you know who you are that caused this rule to be made...

It is possible to fit in doing a complete suspension setup (set damper length, set ride height and corner weight) on 2 cars. First in best dressed on this. It would be appreciated if the first cab off the rank can be here nice and early.

Have a guard roller and heat gun, however I have no experience rolling guards. Dash change (yes), corner weight (yes)

Dibs on the scales for weighting and heights! I'll show up good and early then get out of the way and lend a hand with others.

How about an injector swap and initial MS3Pro PnP setup on my SE.

Not looking at anyone in particular ManiacLachy

Some guard rolling wouldn't go astray either if there's time.

We can probably do the MS. Make sure you have a wideband as well.

Injectors I've not done before, and while it would be doable, I'd suggest leaving the stocks in right now. Get the car running nicely then re-visit the injectors. The MS isn't quite as simple as plugging it in and turning it on, we'll have to do some fiddling and even at the end of the day it will not be perfect (but should be driveable).

Sounds like a plan.

I have an Innovate wideband. I'd better make sure there's a suitable bung for it in the exhaust!
Guess I'll need to install the MAC valve for boost control too.
Only has to be able to drive onto the trailer at the end of the day (its an unregistered race car), but would be good if its a bit more driveable than just that.

Thanks

Let's plan to keep it as stock as possible for this run. That way if things aren't playing nicely we can just plug the stock ECU back in. Yeah, check you have a bung in the exhaust for the WBO2.

:.

For injector swaps, read MSMjohn's thread: https://www.clubroadster.net/vb_forum/58-forced-induction/27215-mazdaspeed-mx5-denso-321cc-23250-74050-injector-info.html
- awesome IDIOT'S GUIDE (lots of pictures - I've used it all 3 times I changed my injectors)

Will be there to help and can cook up some smoked lamb unless anyone has any objections?

Gina may or may not be present depending on what I can get done in September (still have one project I want to FINISH otherwise it'll never get done).
I've booked a week off in October where I plan to install the TSE manifold and downpipe (will need to take the car to a muffler shop to modify Dann's 3" exhaust to fit), install NitroDann's engine mount while the exhast manifold is OFF, redo the hotside intercooler plumbing, modify the mixing manifold to simplify the lower radiator hose routing, redo the air intake and re-make the Cold Air Box. Once I start these jobs, Gina will be undriveable until they're complete so I wanted to wait until I had time to do it.

Maybe we could get all this done at the Dodgy Day???
