Engineering a turbo NA6

Hey guys,

I have recently bought a turbo NA6 and having a great time. Its got about 130rwkw so its not crazy fast but still a blast to drive. Not too loud which is nice.

I do my hooning at the track but for peace of mind I would like to get it engineered so its legal all the time. I have heard this is an expensive ordeal and as I cannot afford it as this time, i'm a little worried about defects.

So how many of you are, or have been in the same situation? Were you pulled over and defected for an unengineered turbo, if so how did you tackle it?

For the people who engineered there car, how was the experience and can you recommend a particular engineer for this.

The engineering is cheap.

Unfucking a blatantly illegal car can be expensive.

If the car is actually legal mechanically but only needs the paperwork it's only 6-800 in paperwork and testing. If half the mods need to be redone then it's going to cost half what building it did.

That makes sense.

It was actually built by you in December 2016! A blue or red NA6, so it should be easily legal.

Which car, or post a photo of the bay and ill tell you what it will need. Probably airbox, emissions cat and retune for emissions pass.

Is it EZ71GA?

That's the car.

It doesn't have an airbox, same 3" street system.

are the Air boxes for the NA 6's something you can just whip up? or do you need the car at your workshop?

yes it needs tuning, an airbox and a euro4 cat.

What would be the reason an emissions cat was not installed when you installed the turbo system, customer request or is it a different package?

It's nearly $400 more expensive and he didn't want to get it passed. Airbox too, and no doubt whoever tuned it didn't take the extra time and bill the extra money to get it to pass.

Right i see. Bummer, strange why you wouldn't spend the little extra at the time to do it properly.

Seems like getting this thing engineered will be a little more than just the paperwork.

Will just have to drive round as is until I can afford it. Fingers crossed no bad luck.
