JDM NA6CE - location of the build date?

Postby twr7cx » Sun Jun 10, 2018 3:20 pm

Anyone able to please advise where on a JDM Eunos Roadster NA6CE the build plate with the date of manufacture (month and year) would be located?

Anywhere in particular underneath the bonnet? There is two plates on the drivers side of the firewall which have the VIN on them but no build date.

Have a closer look at those two plates. One is the Mazda Japan with the build date.

I also have a grey import Eunos and there is not a build date on either placard. Telling the OP to "have a closer look" seems a little insulting. Is the assumption that the OP can't read, or can't see?

JDM Eunos Roadsters I've seen haven't had a build date plate like the ADM MX5 NA.

Sure.
Why don't you offer him some advice then as you own one?

Thanks.

Any alternative methods for identifying the month of manufacture then?

Vehicle has expired Victorian registration but their database doesn't show the month, year only, 1989. Reason for asking is that in Tasmania vehicles are eligible for Special Interest registration once over 30 years old which being 1989 is next year, just trying to determine when next year...

Scroll to bottom of following, which will give you an idea: viewtopic.php?f=18&t=34871&start=135
A while back there were a few websites that you could punch the VIN into to get a build date, however there was a bit of variation between them - try this one & compare results with what the NA6 Register above indicates as a guideline: https://www.japan-partner.com/check-man ... e-year.php

You might want to read the legislation on the CP system in Tas i.e. on what basis they determine eligibility. If the car was registered in Vic in 1989 then if you are going for CP permit its more than likely that year 1989 will be accepted. If the time comes you should look for proof of last reg In Vic you also need to be in a car club and meet their requirements lie minimum attendance etc e.g. you may have to been a member for say 12 mths. I dont think the month of manufacture is going to be a stumbling block.

whoops looks like the Tas system is pretty restrictive for older cars.

Try placing your chassis number into the correct spot on the list below. At least this should narrow it down.

Thanks but I'm not aware of Tasmania having a CP system. They do have SIV which is what I'm aiming for under "Over 30 years of age in original or restored condition." https://www.transport.tas.gov.au/regist ... l_interest

Please explain what is restrictive? Personally I think it's less so, unlike Victoria CP I don't need to be a member of a car club, deal with minimum attendance, purchase a certification/letter/whatever from them etc. All I need is the vehicle to be in original or restored condition and be over 30 years old.
