You can contact http://www.motorsportwindscreens.com.au/about-us/ for information on them.

There is 3 x MX5 owners involved in the current 'group buy' however it has taken a while as they come by sea. The order was placed on 18/01/18 and arrived in Sydney 22/05/18. We expect to see the 2 windscreens in Brisbane by the end of June.

Great, thanks.

Just considering my options for AC and heater removal down the track. Not sure whether to leave the heater and fans in or go this way with the heated windscreen.

Got your PM too :)

That time of the year, parts starting to come in... A few big jobs planned in June/July.

However, next planned track day is 01/07/18 so not sure how much I can do on my next 3 days home, then I maybe home for the Morgan Park day on 21/07 but...
  1. Replace engine mounts, the Blackbird Fabworx will lower the engine by about 12mm (at home waiting)
  2. Replace diff bushes (at home waiting)
  3. Lighter weight hardtop (done)
  4. Heated windscreen, this will see the fan/HVAC removed (on its way)
  5. Racepak sensors (suspension/steering and a few others) (on their way from the US)
  6. Suspension bushes (at home waiting)
  7. Paint inside with Upol Raptor tub liner

Hardtop, notice no roof scoop anymore!

Most tub liner products are thick and heavy to provide protection against knocks.
Would have thought this goes against weight saving ideas for a time attack vehicle...

Good point, will do a before and after weight. Plus I'm using a 1ltr kit so maybe an extra 1kg.

Notwithstanding, the reason is to add a little bit of grip onto the drivers side as well as a bit of heat management. It will not be going on very thick.

RAPTOR has passed flammability testing for motor vehicles according to the test methods FMVSS 302, ISO 3795 & BS AU 169A. I should add that the car has a fire supression system now and 2 nozzles are at the drivers feet and 2 at the drivers lower torso.

Just weigh the tin before/after.

On the subject of fire and safety generally, there is an interesting thread on MTnet, with a many eye-opening vids, including a link to an updated (I think) GRM article on the fire in the NC. If anyone here hasn't read it, it is worth 5 minutes to read it, and another 10 minutes to think about it.

Personally, do not take the 10 mins to think about it, if you have a HANS device you should also have a fire bomb in the car.

The good thing about a stripped out car is there is less flammable items that burn :)

Why's that? I doesn't seem much harder to slip shoulder straps off a Hans, than off shoulders.

It is more about if you have thought about your own personal safety and purchased a HANS device you should also purchase and install a fire bomb.

I know of a few people who have installed fire bombs and do not use a frontal head restraint device, but that is a different can of worms.

A sad day that I was not home when this arrived....

However, good news is I will be back in Brisbane from 03/07/18, seat time can begin!

I can't help but think of Leo Wanker when reading that last part (fire extinguishers aimed at the groin):
Don't worry about dying, worry about not living!

Busy 3 days, only got done 1/2 what was planned:
  1. Engine mounts - done
  2. Fuel lines replaced - replaced the burst one. The other hoses looked fine, no cracking around where it pushes on. Added a cable tie to the fitting.
  3. Drilled a hole in the lighter hardtop for the antenna
  4. Installed the rear suspension senors, as well as the steering angle and 2 x brake VNet cables.
  5. Front pads changed out. Was surprised to find the lower slider pins jammed. Cleaned them up and applied new grease.
  6. Racepak CL-1 installed. A simple job...
  7. Prepare for the heated windscreen - nothing done

Steering angle sensor. It presses up against the steering column.
Image

Engine mounts, these lower the engine by about 1/2"

Another set of W6.5's replaced
Image

Offending fuel hose replaced
Image

Hardtop, drilled into again...
Image

Image

Racepak CL-1 - this will give live times to people in the pits or anywhere else via the cloud!
Image

Front suspension sensors turned a good day into a slow one. Have an idea how to get them installed.

Rears no issues

What type was the old fuel hose and connector? Do you know why it failed?

That's some unusual wear on the pads, what's causing that? They look to have a little meat left on them too?

Good to hear the CL1 was a simple install. :D
